Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Willy Coffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendoza comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Daliri kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gilbert Mendoza will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Willy Coffey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gilbert Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza throws a low kick, looking for Coffey's leg but Coffey calmly moves out of range.
Coffey looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Coffey wants to clinch up but Mendoza keeps it at a distance.
Mendoza closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mendoza remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Mendoza is trying to get an arm triangle but Coffey is defending well.
Coffey wants to control but Mendoza postures up.
Coffey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendoza advances nicely into full mount.
Mendoza has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Coffey's face.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendoza loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Coffey scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Mendoza land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Mendoza stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gilbert Mendoza!
