Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexandre Barao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barao keeps the fight on the outside. Barao has a takedown stuffed. Barao fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Wilkins tries to clinch there but Barao circles away.
Barao gets caught flat footed, as Wilkins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wilkins stands up from Barao's guard - Wilkins perhaps looking for a knockout. Wilkins scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Wilkins is looking to take a break and control but Barao is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Barao's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Wilkins creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Wilkins throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Wilkins throwing shots but missing, from side control. Wilkins is trying to ground and pound but Barao uses the momentary lack of control by Wilkins to regain half guard. Wilkins slips a nice elbow through Barao's hands, connecting with Barao's forehead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wilkins trying to control the action but Barao is working from the bottom. Wilkins is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Wilkins not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wilkins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barao with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Wilkins trying to control the action but Barao is working from the bottom. Wilkins is just content to waste time from the top position. Barao takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Wilkins has gone for a leg lock! Barao slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wilkins's guard. Barao trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilkins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Barao trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Barao wants to control from the top but Wilkins keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Barao cracks Wilkins with a solid left hand. Barao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilkins swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barao postures up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Wilkins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Barao manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Barao is breathing heavily. Wilkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Barao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilkins thows a big elbow that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Wilkins dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Wilkins throws a half hearted mid kick. Andre Wilkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barao on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Barao fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wilkins sprawls well initially but Barao persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Barao keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Barao trying to control the action but Wilkins is working from the bottom. Barao is looking for a kimura but Wilkins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Barao to get the leverage. Wilkins trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barao seems to be working for a kimura but Wilkins defends the submission attempt.

But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barao, into his guard. Wilkins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Barao will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Wilkins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wilkins tries to stand but Barao is controlling from the bottom. Wilkins connects with a couple of short punches. Wilkins content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Barao has locked up a guillotine! Barao's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wilkins is holding on here and Barao must be using up a lot of energy. Wilkins has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Barao gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
