Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Santi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Curry's choice of entrance music: Billy the Mountain. Chris Santi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Billy Curry's chin.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Curry! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Santi stays in close to Curry's body and controls the position. Santi stops Curry from standing up. Santi drops back looking for a leg! Curry is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Curry manages to kick Santi off! Santi jumps back into Curry's guard. Santi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Curry is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chris Santi. Santi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Curry connects with a good right hand that stumbles Santi. Santi circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Curry throws a nice head kick!

A looping hook to the body misses from Santi. Curry does a little dance to reset his feet. Santi fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Billy Curry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A good leg kick by Curry. Curry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Curry throws a head kick but Santi moves out of range.

Santi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Curry but Curry pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Santi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Curry stuffs the takedown attempt from Santi. Santi gets slowly back to his feet. Curry listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Curry fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Santi. Curry is looking to clinch. Curry scores with a head kick.

Curry lands with a kick to the temple. Santi shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Curry displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Santi. Curry scores with a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Curry tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No joy there for Santi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Curry tries to clinch but Santi moves out of range. Santi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Curry wants to control but Santi is keeping busy.
Santi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Santi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Curry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Santi controlling the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Billy Curry dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Santi tries for a takedown but Curry sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Curry throws a sloppy head kick and Santi moves out of range easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Santi. Curry throws a shot from downtown. Santi moves away and avoids it. Curry fails in his attempt to clinch. Santi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Santi shoots in for a double leg but Curry sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Santi. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santi slips a jab and a cross from Curry.
Curry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Chris Santi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Curry throws a big shot that misses. Santi shoots in but Curry avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Curry scores with a jab. Santi acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Santi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Curry is trying to buck Santi off. Santi controls the position. Santi wants to control but Curry is keeping him busy. You can see the frustration on Curry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Curry gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Santi content just to control the position here. Curry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Curry really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Santi looking to ground and pound but Curry is blocking nicely. Santi looking to control and managing it successfully. Santi punching from mount but Curry doing a good job of avoiding damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Curry is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Santi looking to control and managing it successfully. Santi has control of Curry's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Curry regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Santi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Santi wants to control the pace but Curry is squirming around nicely. Curry tries to control the position but Santi now has his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Santi just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Santi throwing sloppy strikes. Curry tries to escape but Santi has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Curry covering up well under a barage of strikes. Curry is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Santi.
Santi misses with a punch to the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Curry fending off the submission attempt from Santi. Santi biding his time, looking for the opening.

Chris Santi dominated that second round. That's time! Santi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Santi keeps the fight on the outside. Curry throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Santi's head. Curry stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Curry wants it to stay on the feet. Santi walks into a jab. Santi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Curry fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Santi closes the distance and clinches up with Curry, looking for a takedown. Santi pushes Curry against the cage but Curry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Santi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Curry tries a head kick but it misses.
Curry has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Santi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Curry's guard now. Santi controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Curry wants to get back to his feet but Santi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Curry takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Santi is pushing down on Curry's leg trying to pass to half guard. Curry is fighting to maintain full guard but Santi has managed to sneak the leg through. Curry has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Santi is working away from the top position though. Santi passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Curry tries to hold on but Santi pushes him away. Santi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Santi throwing strikes here but Curry is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Santi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Curry wants to control but Santi is having none of it. Curry reaches up to try and control the position but Santi seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Curry rolls and tries to escape and now Santi has his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santi controlling the position well here. Curry rolled but Santi kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Santi throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Santi controlling from the back. Curry trying to control the hands but Santi breaks the grip. Santi is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Curry looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Santi biding his time, controlling Curry. Santi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Curry rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Santi showed his dominance in that final round. I think Santi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
