Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denis Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Holt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denis Kang! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Holt. No joy for Kang on that attempt. Holt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Holt lands with a nice body kick. Horrible takedown by Kang or perhaps it was just good defense by Holt which made him look bad. Steve Holt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denis Kang. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holt lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. A solid body kick from Holt. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Holt punishes Kang's body with a nice straight punch. Holt shoots in and bounces Kang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Holt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Holt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Holt chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Holt trying to control but Kang is working from the bottom. Holt scoring with punches to the head and body. Holt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kang is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Holt sitting in guard, not really doing much. Holt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kang looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kang looks gassed! Holt slips nicely into half guard. Holt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Holt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kang for as long as he can get away with. Kang is looking for a sweep. Holt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kang looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Holt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holt has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Holt working over Kang with some ground and pound. Kang looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kang is rocked! Holt slips a nice elbow through Kang's hands, connecting with Kang's forehead. Kang is still in real trouble! Can Holt finish him? Holt lands strikes from half guard. Holt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Holt has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kang defend it? Holt steps over the head and cranks it - Kang is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Holt!
