Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roger Shagwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lester Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shagwell comes to the cage accompanied by Basketball - Get Your Groove Back. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Shagwell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lester Murphy! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shagwell throws a leg kick that misses. Shagwell looks for a takedown but Murphy sprawls well. Shagwell shoots for a takedown but Murphy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Shagwell looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. A leg kick checked by Murphy. Murphy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Murphy misses with a takedown
and Shagwell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Murphy's guard. Murphy wants to sweep here but Shagwell controlling him for the moment. Shagwell connects with a couple of short punches.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shagwell manages to get himself to full guard.
Shagwell is looking for a triangle but Murphy pushes his legs off easily.
Shagwell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Shagwell looking for a sweep. Not yet Shagwell, not yet. Murphy postures up in Shagwell's guard and throws a big left but Shagwell blocks it. Shagwell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Murphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Shagwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Murphy stopping the sweep attempt from Shagwell.

Shagwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murphy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Murphy sitting in guard here, content to control.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Shagwell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murphy is one step ahead there. Murphy tries to free his leg and advance position but Shagwell is retaining full guard.
Shagwell looking for a guillotine here but Murphy defends easily.
Murphy trying to control but Shagwell is working from the bottom. Shagwell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Murphy stands up from Shagwell's guard - Murphy perhaps looking for a knockout. Shagwell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Murphy moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Murphy misses with a double jab.
Shagwell throws a left and a right that both miss
and Murphy counters with a nice uppercut. Shagwell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Shagwell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Murphy wants to clinch. Shagwell scores with a jab to the head.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Murphy tries to clinch but Shagwell is having none of it. Murphy throws a right hand that Shagwell ducks under and follows up with a left that Shagwell also avoids with ease. Shagwell doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Shagwell is breathing heavily. Murphy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shagwell is proving hard to escape from. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shagwell is trying to keep Murphy in close.
Shagwell can't keep his opponent in guard - Murphy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Murphy prevents Shagwell from improving his position. Murphy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shagwell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Lester Murphy will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Shagwell doesn't succeed with the takedown and Murphy counters with a thumping low kick. Shagwell shoots and misses and Murphy counters with a series of strikes. Shagwell will be more careful next time no doubt.

Shagwell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Murphy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shagwell trying to control the position but Murphy is working away. Murphy is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shagwell has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy is looking for a sweep.
Shagwell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Murphy has escaped the position, nice work there. Murphy wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Murphy throws Shagwell to one side and escapes! A head kick misses from Shagwell. Murphy scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Murphy misses with a combination
and Shagwell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Murphy won't be happy with that. Murphy taking a bit of punishment here - Shagwell scoring with strikes.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Shagwell trying to control the position but Murphy is working away. Murphy is looking for a sweep.
Shagwell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murphy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Murphy sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Shagwell is tying to control. Murphy wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Shagwell keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Murphy works his way to full guard. Good work. Murphy wants to stand up but Shagwell is controlling him.
Shagwell postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Murphy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shagwell, into his guard. Murphy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Murphy with a nice head shot there.

No luck so far. Roger Shagwell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Murphy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shagwell is proving hard to escape from. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shagwell is on top in guard.

Roger Shagwell dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Shagwell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Shagwell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Murphy smiles and moves away.

 Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shagwell shoots and misses and Murphy counters with a two punch combo. Shagwell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Murphy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Murphy drives through and clinches with Shagwell against the cage.
Oh Shagwell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Murphy lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Shagwell seems to have got his legs back now.
Murphy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shagwell misses with a takedown and Murphy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Murphy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shagwell. Murphy tries to bum rush Shagwell with a series of wild strikes but Shagwell uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Murphy wants to clinch and Shagwell counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. A nice combination there by Murphy.
Murphy scores with a one two! Shagwell had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Shagwell misses with a takedown and Shagwell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Shagwell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Murphy tries to avoid it but Shagwell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Murphy to the ground. Murphy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Murphy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Murphy lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Shagwell wants to clinch up but Murphy keeps it at a distance. Shagwell throws a nice looking combination but Murphy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Murphy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shagwell shoots and misses and Murphy counters with a one-two to the body. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Murphy looks to land a combination. Shagwell sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Murphy looks to land a body kick but Shagwell moved away.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Shagwell checks the leg kick nicely there.

Shagwell stands up from Murphy's guard - Shagwell perhaps looking for a knockout. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Murphy misses with a two punch combination.
And that's the end of the fight! Lester Murphy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Murphy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
