Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Harding (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Villarosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Harding!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Villarosa!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harding dives in and grabs Villarosa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Villarosa pushes down on Harding's head and hops out.
Villarosa looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Harding looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Villarosa is fending him off so far but Harding persists. Nope, Villarosa circles away and we're back to standing.
Harding shoots in for a takedown but Villarosa shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Harding. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Harding moves out of range as Villarosa throws a body kick.

Villarosa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Harding looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Harding manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Harding is looking for a kimura but Villarosa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Harding to get the leverage.

Harding is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Harding wants to stand but Villarosa has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Villarosa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Harding thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Villarosa's head.
Villarosa looks like he's trying to stand up.
Harding thows a huge punch but Villarosa dodges it nicely.

Harding is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Villarosa sees it coming and defends easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Villarosa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Harding!

Villarosa stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Harding throws a right and a left that both miss.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harding pulls Villarosa in close to prevent any damage.

Harding looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Villarosa with a flurry of punches that miss.
Villarosa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Harding is looking to stand up but Villarosa isn't so interested in that idea.

Villarosa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harding looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harding looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harding!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Harding works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Harding lands a few punches from side control.

Harding tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harding has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Harding has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Harding cracks Villarosa with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Harding with the ground and pound but Villarosa regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Villarosa is defended easily by Harding.
Harding jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Harding looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Villarosa is fending him off so far but Harding persists. Nope, Villarosa circles away and we're back to standing.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Harding might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Villarosa drops back looking for a leg! Harding is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Harding manages to kick Villarosa off! Villarosa jumps back into Harding's guard.

Villarosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harding swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harding seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Harding has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Villarosa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Harding tries to kick Villarosa off but Villarosa keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Harding slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Villarosa wants to stand but Harding is controlling his posture from full guard.
Harding utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Villarosa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Villarosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Harding throws a head kick that misses

and Villarosa counters with a shoot takedown. Harding fights it but they end up in guard.

Harding misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Harding shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Villarosa pinned against the cage. Villarosa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Villarosa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Villarosa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Harding regains half guard.
Villarosa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Villarosa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Villarosa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Villarosa is pressing down on Harding's thigh, looking to free his foot. Harding is holding on for now.
Harding wants to get back to full guard.

Villarosa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Villarosa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Poor strikes thrown by Villarosa there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Harding is trying to control Villarosa's posture but Villarosa avoids it.
Harding is pushing Villarosa's head away, looking to escape. Villarosa manages to hold on to the position though.
Villarosa connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Harding some visible discomfort.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Villarosa cracks Harding with a big right hand but Harding just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Villarosa goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Harding rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Villarosa's guard! Nice work there by Harding!
Villarosa wants to stand up but Harding is controlling him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Villarosa is on top in guard.

Villarosa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Harding kicks Villarosa off and gets to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cody Villarosa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Villarosa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
