Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, All Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marc Montes! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Day tries to kick Montes off but Montes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Day makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Day. Montes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Day. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Day avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Day working for a triangle but Montes defends it easily.
Montes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Day has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Montes has managed to get both his arms back between Day's legs - danger averted. Montes trying to control but Day is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Montes wants to stand but Day has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Montes wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving. Montes wanted to stand there but Day had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Montes lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Day is trying to keep Montes in close.
Montes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Montes postures up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Montes throws a head kick that misses. Montes moves in looking to clinch but Day pushes him off. Day throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Day fails to land with a series of punches.
Montes is looking to clinch but Day is avoiding it.
Montes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Montes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Day is bucking up trying to escape but Montes cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Montes looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Montes looking to control but Day is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montes is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Day can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Day wants to hold on but Montes pushes him away. Montes working away from the top, dropping strikes. Montes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Montes wants to control the pace but Day is squirming around nicely. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Montes lands with some strikes. Montes raining down shots from the mount! Montes working Day over with strikes here. Montes wants to finish this one by submission but Day is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Montes. Day sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Day keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Day is looking to control Montes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Day avoid being mounted? Day tries to roll over but Montes keeps him under control. Day is breathing heavily. Montes drops an elbow to the side of Day's head. Day has hold of Montes's hands but Montes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Montes tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Day. Day tries to get to full guard but Montes has control of the leg. Montes is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Day looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Montes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Day keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Day is pressing down on Montes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Day will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Montes tries to stand but Day is controlling from the bottom. Day looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Montes is looking to stand up but Day won't let him. Day keeping moving, preventing Montes from controlling successfully. Day is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Montes defends well. Day wants to sweep but no luck. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Montes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Montes distracts Day with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marc Montes dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Day looks to land a combination but Montes avoids it well. Montes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Day wants to control but Montes postures up. Day regains half guard. Montes is trying to control the action in half guard but Day is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. It looks like Montes is going to stand back up.
Montes thows a huge punch but Day dodges it nicely.
Montes tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Day. Day regains full guard. Nicely done. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Day trying to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Day avoids the head kick by Montes.
Montes is looking to clinch. Montes tries for a takedown but Day sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. No joy there for Day, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
No luck for Montes with that takedown attempt. Day throws a series of punches but Montes moves out of range. Day looks to land a combination but Montes avoids it well. Montes drives through with a takedown into guard. Day is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Montes preventing the sweep. Montes stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montes takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Montes feints and as Day raises his hands in defense, Montes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Montes wants to stand but Day has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Day keeping moving, preventing Montes from controlling successfully. Montes has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Day to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Montes is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Day pulls down on the head and he's put Montes to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). All Day!
