Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ian Saga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Timo Silakka! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silakka ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Saga takes a swing at Silakka's ribcage but misses. Saga pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Saga cracks Silakka with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Saga throws out a leg kick but Silakka moves out of range and Saga only half commits. Silakka moves into the clinch. Silakka lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Silakka stalling in the clinch.
Silakka lands with a short head shot on the inside. Silakka scores with a hook to the body. Silakka working aggressively here.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Saga lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silakka circles away quickly and effectively. Saga throws a looping overhand right but Silakka ducks down to avoid it. Saga misses with a low kick. Ian Saga is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Silakka fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Saga looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Saga throws a lazy right hand but Silakka sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Silakka pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. A head kick by Saga misses and Silakka counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saga won't be happy with that. Silakka goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Saga has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Silakka but great work by Saga. Saga is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Saga uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Saga throws a right and a left that Silakka avoids nicely.

Saga's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Saga duly obliges. Saga lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Good agility. Silakka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Saga escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silakka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Silakka lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Silakka thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Silakka trying to control but Saga is working from the bottom. Silakka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silakka pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Saga is keeping the position for now. Silakka trying to control the position from guard on top but Saga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Saga is looking for a triangle but Silakka pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Silakka drops his hands momentarily and Saga takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Saga lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Silakka fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Saga checks it well. Saga dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Silakka. That did some damage! Silakka takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. A punch combination from Saga misses. Saga throws a right and a left that Silakka avoids nicely. Saga falls off balance throwing a combination
and Silakka counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Silakka. Saga tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Silakka just stands there and leans against the cage. Silakka throws a head punch that misses. Silakka throws a knee to the head but misses.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Timo Silakka. I think Silakka has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
