PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dusty Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I Stand Alone. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Cash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dusty Brown!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cash gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Brown ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cash moves away.

Brown gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cash to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cash is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cash wants to stand but Brown has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Brown wants to stand up but Cash is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cash's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Cash seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brown for as long as he can get away with.
Cash knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground.
Cash landing some decent shots from guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brown being controlled here, momentarily.
Cash won't allow Brown to get back to his feet.
Cash seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cash has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cash gets to his feet. Brown looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Brown takes a swing at Cash's ribcage but misses.
Brown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Cash gets control of Brown's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cash will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Cash manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brown manages to get himself to full guard.
Cash is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Brown wants to stand but Cash is controlling the position.
Cash showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Brown is looking to stand up but Cash isn't so interested in that idea.

Brown can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cash controls the pace.
Brown keeping moving, preventing Cash from controlling successfully.
Cash is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Cash slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chris Cash just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cash stops Brown from standing up.

Cash slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Brown can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cash controls the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Cash takes the fight into the clinch.
Cash tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brown just stands there and leans against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Cash keeps control of Brown as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Brown tries to break the clinch but Cash is controlling the position.

Cash decides to pull guard.
Cash managing to control the position.
Brown trying to control but Cash is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brown thows a big elbow that misses.
Brown throws a big right hand that misses.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cash swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brown wants to control from the top but Cash keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cash pulls Brown in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Cash dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Brown throws a right and a left that Cash avoids nicely.

Cash takes the fight into the clinch.

Chris Cash overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cash prevents Brown from getting back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cash tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but Cash is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cash trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
Cash controlling from the top position.
Cash looking to sit in guard and control but Brown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cash on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cash tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brown throwing strikes but missing.
Brown tries to stand but Cash is controlling from the bottom.
Cash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dusty Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chris Cash is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Brown is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cash is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Cash showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cash, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
