Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Weiss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zaraki Kenpachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joshua Weiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zaraki Kenpachi!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weiss clinches up against the cage.
Kenpachi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Weiss has him pressed against the cage.
Kenpachi takes a knee right on the jaw!
Weiss with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Kenpachi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Weiss landing knees to the head.
Weiss can't get the takedown.
Kenpachi wants to break the clinch but can't.

Kenpachi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kenpachi throws a series of punches but Weiss avoids them all with ease.

Weiss has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kenpachi tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Weiss breaks the clinch.
Kenpachi wants to clinch but Weiss slips to the side

and Weiss counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Weiss.
Weiss stands and throws Kenpachi's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Weiss trying to control the action but Kenpachi is working from the bottom.
Weiss wants to control for a moment but Kenpachi uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Weiss regains full guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Weiss looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kenpachi is one step ahead there.

Weiss looking for a guillotine here but Kenpachi defends easily.
Kenpachi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Weiss has a closed guard, preventing Kenpachi from standing up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Weiss is looking for a triangle but Kenpachi pushes his legs off easily.
Weiss trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Kenpachi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Weiss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Weiss had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kenpachi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Weiss Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kenpachi's back instead.
Weiss is breathing heavily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kenpachi covering up well and avoiding damage.
Kenpachi controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Weiss is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kenpachi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kenpachi for a finish.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kenpachi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Weiss's waist but Weiss gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kenpachi off to one side.

Weiss lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kenpachi!
Weiss cracks Kenpachi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Weiss lands a big shot there that rocks Kenpachi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Weiss is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Kenpachi is in real trouble.

Weiss somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Weiss thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Weiss punches the canvas rather than the man.
Weiss scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kenpachi covering up well under a series of strikes from Weiss.
Kenpachi grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Weiss misses with punches from the back.
Kenpachi has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Weiss.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kenpachi has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Even with his hooks in, Weiss manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Weiss is persistently looking for the submission but Kenpachi is defending it well.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Weiss's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Weiss looking to hold on to the position here but Kenpachi rolls and ends up regaining guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Weiss has taken the fight to the clinch.

Weiss jumps into guard, dragging Kenpachi to the mat.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Weiss keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kenpachi looks for a takedown but Weiss sprawls well.
Weiss misses with a takedown attempt - Kenpachi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kenpachi closes the distance and clinches up with Weiss, looking for a takedown. Kenpachi pushes Weiss against the cage but Weiss circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Joshua Weiss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zaraki Kenpachi.

Weiss thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Weiss is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Weiss manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Weiss throws some wild stikes that Kenpachi manages to avoid easily.

Weiss throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Joshua Weiss overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Weiss cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Weiss thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Weiss won't let Kenpachi get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Weiss goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kenpachi turns into him and now he's in Weiss's guard.

Kenpachi is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Weiss has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kenpachi is looking to defend but Weiss has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kenpachi! Weiss pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kenpachi taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Joshua Weiss!
