PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Cardigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Marr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marr comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Falls kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that James Cardigan has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily James Cardigan seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James Cardigan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Marr!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardigan misses with a wild body shot.
Cardigan tries to close the distance and clinch but Marr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cardigan doesn't manage to clinch there - Marr circles away.
Marr throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Cardigan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Marr fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cardigan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Cardigan tries to clinch but Marr is having none of it.
Cardigan throws the kick towards the body but Marr avoids it.
Cardigan misses with a jab to the body
and Marr counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Marr closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marr lands in his opponent's guard.

Marr is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Marr has gone for a leg lock! Cardigan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Marr's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marr looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cardigan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Marr breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

No joy there for Cardigan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cardigan throws a head kick that Marr semi-blocks.
Cardigan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Marr ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

and Marr makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Cardigan really felt that one!
Cardigan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Marr's sensitive parts.
Cardigan wants to clinch but Marr slips to the side
and Marr counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Marr throws a series of punches but Cardigan moves out of range.

Joe Marr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Marr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
