The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trepanier stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Trepanier wants it to stay on the feet.
Trepanier looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Markstrom tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Trepanier swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mattias Markstrom. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Markstrom is looking to clinch but Trepanier is avoiding it.
Trepanier closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Markstrom to the mat! Markstrom manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Markstrom manages to escape and get back to his feet.

and Trepanier counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Markstrom lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Markstrom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Markstrom is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Trepanier rolls with it to try and escape but Markstrom cranks on the arm and Trepanier is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
