Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Hugh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Teagues! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Teagues shoots in and bounces Hugh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hugh keeping full guard, as Teagues tries to pass. Teagues drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hugh manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Teagues has Hugh in his guard. Hugh wants to control from the top but Teagues keeps moving. Teagues working for submissions but it's allowed Hugh to get to half guard.
Hugh could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hugh tries to stand and escape but Teagues is controlling the position. Hugh wants to control but Teagues is keeping him busy. Teagues is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Teagues looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Teagues wants to get back to full guard. Hugh seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Teagues does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hugh misses with a takedown so Teagues counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Teagues pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hugh is keeping the position for now. Teagues makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Teagues trying to control but Hugh is working from the bottom. Hugh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Teagues is one step ahead there. Teagues thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hugh is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hugh looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Teagues is defending well. Hugh quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Teagues has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hugh celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
