Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Ashby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Winchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Winchester will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brandon Ashby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Winchester! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ashby closes this distance looking for a takedown but Winchester circles away. Ashby shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Winchester as he jumps to the side. Ashby tries to clinch but Winchester moves out of range. Winchester throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters circle momentarily. Winchester darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Winchester connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Winchester throws the left hand but Ashby avoids the punch easily. Ashby shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ashby was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Winchester tries to buck Ashby off but he can't manage it. Ashby punching from mount but Winchester doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ashby can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Winchester is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ashby trying to control but Winchester is having none of it. Winchester avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ashby.
Winchester really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ashby. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Winchester has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Winchester is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ashby gets his way!

Winchester steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ashby. That one must have hurt. Ashby takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Ashby fails with the takedown. Winchester throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Winchester is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Winchester is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Winchester is trying to force a seperation but Ashby has the dominant position. Winchester wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Winchester stops a takedown attempt from Ashby.
Ashby has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Winchester avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Winchester looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Ashby breaks from the clinch.

Ashby postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Winchester is looking to stand up but Ashby isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice sprawl there from Winchester as Ashby shoots in. Ashby ducks under a wild hook from Winchester. Ashby takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Winchester dips down and scores with a jab to the body. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ashby. A combination from Winchester does no damage. Ashby fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Ashby. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ashby throws a wild body kick that Winchester sees coming a mile off. Ashby ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Winchester lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ashby dives in and grabs Winchester's left leg, looking for a takedown. Winchester pushes down on Ashby's head and hops out. Winchester waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ashby. Winchester takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Winchester lands a lovely overhand right. Ashby shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Winchester pinned against the cage. Winchester gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Winchester swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Ashby shoots in for a takedown but Winchester shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Winchester digs a good body shot into Ashby's ribs. Winchester throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Winchester darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Brandon Ashby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Winchester, as that shot connected.
Ashby shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Winchester defends it nicely. Winchester just misses with a punch to the body.

Horrible takedown by Ashby or perhaps it was just good defense by Winchester which made him look bad. Winchester lands a nice shot that snaps Ashby's head back.

He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Ashby darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Winchester wants to get back to his feet.

Winchester is not content to let Ashby control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Winchester is looking to escape.
