Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Hazelwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lee Hazelwood!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hazelwood is fending him off so far but Rodriguez persists. Nope, Hazelwood circles away and we're back to standing.

Rodriguez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hazelwood did well to prevent Rodriguez getting side control.

Hazelwood wants to sweep but no luck.

Hazelwood is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rodriguez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hazelwood is not content to let Rodriguez control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hazelwood swats away the attempt to clinch by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hazelwood tries to avoid it but Rodriguez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hazelwood to the ground. Hazelwood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Peter Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rodriguez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rodriguez is breathing heavily.
Rodriguez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hazelwood pinned against the cage. Hazelwood gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rodriguez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rodriguez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hazelwood controls the pace.
Hazelwood wants to control from the top but Rodriguez keeps moving.
Hazelwood is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hazelwood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lee Hazelwood will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hazelwood with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rodriguez to score with a decent uppercut.

Rodriguez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hazelwood to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hazelwood postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rodriguez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hazelwood, into his guard.

Hazelwood escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hazelwood is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hazelwood is looking for a kimura but Rodriguez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hazelwood to get the leverage.

Hazelwood is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rodriguez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hazelwood gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice takedown defense from Rodriguez. No joy for Hazelwood on that attempt.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rodriguez.

Rodriguez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Rodriguez gets caught flat footed, as Hazelwood shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hazelwood drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rodriguez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hazelwood has Rodriguez in his guard.

Hazelwood lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rodriguez!
Hazelwood tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Hazelwood has control of Rodriguez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rodriguez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rodriguez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hazelwood tries to control but Rodriguez wriggling away.

Hazelwood swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rodriguez is now in Hazelwood's guard. A big mistake from Hazelwood there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Hazelwood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Hazelwood shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rodriguez pinned against the cage. Rodriguez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hazelwood feints and as Rodriguez raises his hands in defense, Hazelwood changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hazelwood drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rodriguez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rodriguez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rodriguez!

A lull in the action here.
Hazelwood is not content to let Rodriguez control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rodriguez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hazelwood counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rodriguez won't be happy with that.

Hazelwood goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Rodriguez rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hazelwood's guard! Nice work there by Rodriguez!

Hazelwood is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hazelwood is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Rodriguez frees his head nicely. Oh but Hazelwood has switched to an armbar! Rodriguez is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
