Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Y cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). cage comes to the cage accompanied by Don't let me be misunderstood. Cory Smith will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Smith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith scores with a three punch combo!
cage fails with an attempt to clinch.
A big left from cage misses.
Nice takedown defense from cage. No joy for Smith on that attempt.
A shot to de liver by Smith. Beautiful body shot.
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by cage.
cage looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.
Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

cage pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith lands an overhand right.
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
cage takes a jab right on the kisser.
Y cage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smith works his way into full mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
cage misses with a straight right.
Good standup being displayed there by Smith as he connects with a hook.

Smith blocks a jab.
Smith stalks cage and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into cage's face. cage staggers backwards, shaken.
Smith scores with a jab to the body.
Smith connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed cage momentarily.
cage is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Smith's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
cage has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from cage there as he acknowledges the shot.
cage misses with a hook.
cage missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
cage throws a hook but Smith blocks it.
cage throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but cage sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
cage throws a shot from downtown. Smith moves away and avoids it.

and Smith counters with a lovely shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Despite being in the dominant position, Cory Smith just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Smith moves out of range of the strikes.
cage throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
cage avoids the body shot from Smith.
Smith lands a nice shot to the body.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. cage tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. cage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith moves away from the strike by cage.
Smith lands a really nice looking cross but cage seems unphased.
Y cage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
cage loads up on a big right hand but Smith slips the punch.
Smith has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
cage is looking to clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
cage throws a hook but Smith blocks it.
Smith scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
cage throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smith looks to land a combination. cage sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith punishes cage's body with a nice straight punch.
cage takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smith dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Smith cracks cage with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

cage takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

cage with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Smith to score with a decent uppercut.
Smith works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

cage is rocked!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Smith.
Oh cage is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down cage's shoulder. That is not cool.
cage seems to have got his legs back now.
Cory Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Y cage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but cage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
