PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fatih Emir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bivard Devie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emir comes to the cage accompanied by i kill people. Devie has chosen "Don't Come Around Here No More as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fatih Emir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bivard Devie!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Devie, as that shot connected.


It looks like Fatih Emir has been cut.
Devie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Devie looks to score with a jab to the body but Emir is just out of range.
Devie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Emir manages to avoid it.
Emir tries to clinch up but Devie circles away and keeps his distance.
Emir misses with a takedown attempt - Devie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Emir shoots in for a takedown but Devie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Emir shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Devie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Devie gets back to half guard.

Emir is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Devie defends it well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Devie can do anything to dispel that myth.
Devie is looking to control Emir's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Devie avoid being mounted?
Emir throwing shots but Devie is blocking nicely.
Devie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Emir is working away from the top position though.

The referee warns Devie that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Emir lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Emir with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Emir takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Emir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Emir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Devie was covering up waiting for the punch and Emir finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Devie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Emir accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Devie takes a swing at Emir's ribcage but misses.

Emir uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Devie.
Bivard Devie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Emir drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Devie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Emir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Devie looks to move to half guard but instead Emir has passed into mount! Damn!

Emir is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Devie defends it well.

Devie tries to buck Emir off but Emir is having none of it.
Check out the look on Emir's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Emir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Devie is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Emir gets his way!
Emir has the hooks in. Devie is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Devie stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Devie wants it to stay on the feet.
Devie throws out a loose jab but Emir uses good head movement to avoid it.
Emir shoots in for a double leg but Devie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Emir dodges the punch combination from Devie.
Emir fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fatih Emir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Devie throws a right and a left that both miss.
Emir is looking to clinch but Devie is avoiding it.
Devie rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Emir moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Emir looking to sit in guard and control but Devie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Devie throws and elbow that misses. Emir uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Devie's guard. Nice move by Emir!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Devie tries to roll over but Emir keeps him under control.

Emir goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Devie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Emir's guard! Nice work there by Devie!

Emir goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Devie is on top in guard.

Emir had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Devie defends it easily.

Devie postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Fatih Emir showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Emir, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
