Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles Melville (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmilson Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Melville! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmilson Alves! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melville misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Melville doesn't manage to clinch there - Alves circles away.
Charles Melville seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Melville misses with a wild body shot. Melville stalks Alves and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Alves's face. Alves staggers backwards, shaken. Alves keeps the fight on the outside. Alves fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Alves shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Melville manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Melville has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Alves has passed into side control.

Alves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Melville as he jumps to the side. Charles Melville has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmilson Alves. Melville tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight stays on the outside here - Melville looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Melville doesn't succeed with the takedown and Alves counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Alves is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Melville pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Alves controlling the position well here. Melville rolled but Alves kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Melville tries to escape but Alves has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Alves avoiding Melville 's attempts to control his hands. Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Alves is trying to stick to Melville's back but Melville is turning into Alves. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Alves's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Melville. Alves wants to stand up but Melville is controlling him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Melville tries to pull guard but Alves holds him up against the cage and eventually Melville drops back down to his feet.

Melville is fighting off a takedown attempt but Alves is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Melville to the mat. Melville regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Melville is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Alves is thwarting Melville's attempts to control the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Melville tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Alves is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Melville shoots and misses and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Melville's guard. Alves stands up and waves to Melville to follow him. Melville tries to clinch but fails miserably and Alves counters with a takedown into side control.
