Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Sum Yun Gi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Fredin! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fredin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Yun Gi looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! The fight stays on the outside here - Yun Gi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Yun Gi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Fredin can't get the takedown.
A head punch on the inside from Yun Gi fails to land. Fredin fails to pull guard.
Fredin prevents Yun Gi from breaking the clinch. Yun Gi fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Fredin works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Fredin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fredin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yun Gi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fredin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Fredin scoring with punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fredin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Yun Gi to see if he's OK. Fredin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yun Gi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Yun Gi tries to escape but Fredin is in control. Yun Gi regains half guard. Yun Gi throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Fredin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Fredin prevents Yun Gi from improving his position. Fredin seems to be working for a kimura but Yun Gi defends the submission attempt. Yun Gi is holding on to half guard well. Fredin in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Yun Gi tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Fredin!
