Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Mortis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Ramone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mortis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Crush 'em by Megadeth. Ramone has chosen Shut Up as his entrance music. Kyle Mortis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Mortis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julio Ramone!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramone throws a jab when Mortis was well out of range.
Mortis throws a shot from downtown. Ramone moves away and avoids it.
Mortis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

A jab lands there for Ramone.
Mortis throws an overhand right that lands on Ramone's shoulder, as Ramone tries to avoid the shot.

Mortis throws a head kick but Ramone moves out of range.

Mortis cracks Ramone with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ramone looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Mortis finish him?


It looks like Julio Ramone has been cut.
Mortis on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Ramone avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ramone avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ramone paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Ramone looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mortis wants to get back to full guard.
Mortis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ramone's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ramone's back!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mortis struggling to keep hold of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramone breaks Mortis's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ramone won't allow Mortis to sweep him here.

Mortis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mortis throws a jab when Ramone was well out of range.

Mortis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ramone circles away quickly and effectively.

Mortis looks to land a left hand but Ramone moved out of range nicely.
Ramone lands a glancing blow to the side of Mortis's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Good exchange - Ramone coming out on top.
Ramone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mortis tries to avoid it but Ramone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mortis to the ground. Mortis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ramone connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Mortis takes one to the chin there.
Ramone is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mortis had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Ramone jabs Mortis right on the nose. Mortis blinks but takes it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Ramone's corner calls for a 1-2. Ramone obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Mortis moves forwards but Ramone connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Mortis is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Mortis throws a hook to the side of Ramone's head but Ramone sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ramone feints and as Mortis raises his hands in defense, Ramone changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ramone throws and elbow that misses. Mortis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ramone's guard. Nice move by Mortis!

Ramone is looking for a triangle but Mortis pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ramone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mortis looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Mortis gets caught flat footed, as Ramone shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ramone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ramone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mortis is on top in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mortis wants to get up but he can't break Ramone's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ramone is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mortis.

Ramone fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mortis on the side of the head.
Ramone slips a straight right by Mortis.
Ramone connects with a body shot.
Mortis does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Ramone throws a series of strikes that have Mortis backpedaling.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ramone creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Julio Ramone is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ramone creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mortis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Ramone is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mortis looks calm but he's in trouble here. Ramone gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mortis is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Ramone lets go of the hold and Mortis can pop his arm back in it's socket.
