Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Vass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lincoln Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lincoln Hawk acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Vass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lincoln Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vass sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Vass decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Vass is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vass missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Hawk wants to improve his position but Vass is controlling well.
Vass wants to stand up but Hawk is controlling the position.
Hawk keeping control of the position.
Hawk is staying active underneath Vass, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Vass is trying to work for a kimura but Hawk is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vass prevents Hawk from improving his position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Vass throws a looping overhand right but Hawk ducks down to avoid it.
Nice shot lands for Hawk.
Vass slips under a jab from Hawk.
Hawk fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Vass changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hawk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vass laying and praying for a moment but Hawk takes advantage and regains half guard.
Hawk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vass wants to stand up but Hawk has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hawk tries to get to full guard but Vass has control of the leg.
Vass wants to take a breather but Hawk is having none of it.
Hawk keeping hold of Vass's head, controlling as best he can.

Vass is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Vass shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawk sprawls well. He's pushed Vass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hawk closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hawk is trying to break the clinch but Vass is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hawk lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Vass.
Vass tries for a takedown. No joy.
Vass is breathing heavily.
Hawk can't break the clinch.
Vass tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Vass. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hawk lands a nice shot to the body.
Vass tries to pull guard but Hawk won't allow it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
A frustrated look appears on Hawk's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Vass keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hawk's efforts to push away.
Vass can't break the clinch.
Hawk lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Hawk manages to break the clinch.
Hawk connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Vass looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hawk scores with a three punch combo!
Hawk throws a jab when Vass was well out of range.

Hawk pushes Vass up against the cage in a clinch.

Hawk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vass shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vass has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hawk finds it's way round the side to connect with Vass's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hawk lands a nice shot that snaps Vass's head back.
Vass shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hawk defends it nicely.
Hawk throws out a powerful jab.
Hawk digs a good body shot into Vass's ribs.
Vass takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hawk connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vass's hands.
Vass has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vass there as he acknowledges the shot.


Vass is rocked!
Vass looks up at the clock. Bad move! Hawk lands a right hand from hell, dropping Vass. Hawk pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lincoln Hawk!
