11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Teddy Roosevelt! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacques has a takedown stuffed. Jacques uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Roosevelt. Roosevelt keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Roosevelt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jacques walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Teddy Roosevelt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roosevelt lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Roosevelt swings for the body but Jacques moves out of range.
Roosevelt slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Roosevelt scores with a jab to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Jacques avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jacques slips a straight right by Roosevelt. Roosevelt throws a hook but Jacques avoids it easily. Roosevelt scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Jacques avoids the body shot from Roosevelt.
Roosevelt slaps away a takedown attempt from Jacques, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Giorgio Jacques. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roosevelt throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Roosevelt stalks Jacques and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jacques's face. Jacques staggers backwards, shaken. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roosevelt swinging wildly here.

Jacques is rocked! Roosevelt lands a big right hand that sends Jacques crashing to the mat! Roosevelt stays standing though and waves Jacques back to his feet! Oh Jacques is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Roosevelt scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Roosevelt lands a nice hook to Jacques's body. Jacques takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Jacques seems to have got his legs back now. Roosevelt drops Jacques with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Jacques! Roosevelt dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
