Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Sarai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wondoni Kiongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wondoni Kiongo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephen Sarai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wondoni Kiongo!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiongo is looking to clinch.
Kiongo swats away the attempt to clinch by Sarai.
Sarai circles away from the clinch attempt

and Sarai counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kiongo won't be happy with that.
Kiongo is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kiongo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kiongo tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sarai easily slips into full mount!
Sarai lands with some strikes.
Kiongo can't escape the position.
Sarai controlling from the full mount.
Sarai lands a big elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kiongo tries to lock up and control but Sarai gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sarai really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kiongo is looking to improve his position but Sarai isn't that keen on the idea.

Still in the clinch, Kiongo scores with a nice short uppercut.
Kiongo lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sarai backwards.
Sarai tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kiongo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sarai goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kiongo prevents it.
Kiongo works on Sarai's body with a couple of short punches.
Sarai tries to stall but Kiongo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Kiongo lands with a short shot to the head.

Kiongo pushes Sarai back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Sarai tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kiongo just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephen Sarai. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kiongo lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sarai backwards.
Kiongo lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Kiongo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Sarai drags the fight down to the ground.

Kiongo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sarai pushes Kiongo off and scrambles back to his feet.

so Sarai counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sarai is pushing down on Kiongo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kiongo is fighting to maintain full guard but Sarai has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sarai is looking for a kimura here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sarai is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kiongo is trying desperately to improve position.
Kiongo is squirming around, avoiding Sarai's attempts to control the action.

Sarai wants to finish this one by submission but Kiongo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sarai.

Sarai is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kiongo is surviving well by controlling Sarai's body position as best he can.
Poor strikes thrown by Sarai there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Sarai wants to finish this one by submission but Kiongo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sarai.

Sarai is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kiongo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sarai trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sarai has closed the distance and engaged Kiongo in a clinch.
Kiongo fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kiongo lands with a light punch inside.
Kiongo lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Sarai trying to stall but Kiongo improves his position.

Sarai drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kiongo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kiongo is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sarai is keeping busy.

Sarai works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Stephen Sarai overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kiongo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sarai is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kiongo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sarai's back instead.
Sarai trying to control the action but Kiongo just sinks the hooks in.
Kiongo misses with punches from the back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sarai turns into Kiongo and is now in his guard.

Sarai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kiongo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kiongo looks to clinch

and Sarai counters with a takedown into side control.
Kiongo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Sarai is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Kiongo has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sarai performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Sarai's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Sarai looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kiongo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kiongo wants to improve his position but Sarai is controlling well.
Sarai has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Sarai is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kiongo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kiongo is trying to reverse the position but instead Sarai has taken his back - oops!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sarai has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kiongo's body.
Sarai keeps control of the position as Kiongo tries to break free.
Sarai lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Kiongo.

Sarai is persistently looking for the submission but Kiongo is defending it well.
Sarai controlling well, preventing Kiongo from escaping the position.

Sarai has the hooks in. Kiongo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Sarai in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kiongo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Sarai!
