Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Herzog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Assis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herzog comes to the cage accompanied by Robert Tepper - No Easy Way Out. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Herzog finds it's target.
Assis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Herzog.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Herzog cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Herzog has control of Assis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Assis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Herzog won't let Assis get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

I really don't envy Assis right now.

Herzog is trying to stick to Assis's back but Assis is turning into Herzog. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Herzog's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Assis.

Herzog lands a big shot there that rocks Assis but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Herzog is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Assis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Assis shrugs it off.

Assis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Herzog gets his way!
