Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardinho Gabriel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brett Burrows!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gabriel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gabriel is stalling in the full guard.
Burrows looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Burrows controls Gabriel momentarily but Gabriel frees himself.
Gabriel tries to free his leg and advance position but Burrows is retaining full guard.
Burrows is trying to keep Gabriel in close.

Gabriel decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Gabriel shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gabriel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Burrows but Burrows pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Brett Burrows seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burrows waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gabriel.
Burrows avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Burrows lands a jab.

Gabriel has closed the distance and engaged Burrows in a clinch.
Burrows misses with a short punch on the inside.
Gabriel is struggling to control the position.
Gabriel looking for a takedown.

Gabriel has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Burrows regains guard immediately.

Gabriel drops back looking for a leg! Burrows is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burrows manages to kick Gabriel off! Gabriel jumps back into Burrows's guard.

Gabriel drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Burrows dives on top into guard.

Gabriel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Burrows has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gabriel is proving hard to escape from.

Gabriel seems keen to control Burrows's posture.
Gabriel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gabriel throwing shots but Burrows is blocking nicely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gabriel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gabriel thows a huge punch but Burrows dodges it nicely.
Gabriel slows the pace down in half guard.
Gabriel passes to full mount!
Gabriel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Burrows prevents a takedown attempt there.
Burrows is trying to maintain a safe position but Gabriel gets an underhook and turns Burrows into the cage.
Gabriel's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Burrows is trying to break free.
Burrows wants to get back to striking at distance but Gabriel won't allow it.

Gabriel drags the fight down to the ground.

Gabriel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gabriel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gabriel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gabriel has his hands on Burrows's head, controlling the position.
Burrows preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burrows postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Burrows got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gabriel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burrows has managed to get both his arms back between Gabriel's legs - danger averted.

Gabriel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burrows gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ricardinho Gabriel.
Burrows works Gabriel's body with a nice hook.

Gabriel clinches up with Burrows and pushes him back against the cage.
Gabriel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Burrows avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Burrows prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardinho Gabriel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gabriel blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gabriel prevents Burrows from breaking the clinch.

Gabriel has hold of one of Burrows's legs. Burrows is fighting the takedown attempt but Gabriel gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gabriel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gabriel slips nicely into half guard.
Burrows is staying active underneath Gabriel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ricardinho Gabriel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gabriel is controlling the pace.

Gabriel decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricardinho Gabriel dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Burrows thuds a left hand into Gabriel's body.

Gabriel has managed to clinch.

Gabriel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Burrows uses from the top position.

Gabriel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burrows defends it easily.

Burrows avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gabriel is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Gabriel is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Burrows frees his head nicely. Oh but Gabriel has switched to an armbar! Burrows is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
