Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Samuel Fisher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Steiner! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steiner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fisher. Steiner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steiner is looking to take a break and control but Fisher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fisher trying to hold on to Steiner's head to control him but Steiner postures up.
Steiner not doing much here.
Steiner sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fisher defending well though. Steiner lands with a punch from half guard. Fisher is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Steiner pulls his head out easily. Fisher has one foot on Steiner's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Steiner shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Steiner is looking to take a break and control but Fisher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Steiner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fisher knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Steiner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Fisher makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fisher. Fisher wants to sweep here but Steiner controlling him for the moment. Fisher is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steiner prevents Fisher from getting back to his feet. Fisher has his feet on Steiner's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Nice takedown defense from Fisher. No joy for Steiner on that attempt. Steiner takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

A chopping leg kick lands by Fisher. Steiner looks gassed! Fisher throws a body kick the misses and Steiner counters with a three punch combo that has Fisher backing up. Fisher nods at Steiner to acknowledge the strikes. Fisher lands a slapping body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fisher looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Steiner or perhaps it was just good defense by Fisher which made him look bad. Steiner takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nice body punch from Fisher. Fisher bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Good leg kick by Fisher there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Samuel Fisher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Steiner. Steiner blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Samuel Fisher dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Steiner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fisher paws at him with a jab and circles away. Fisher misses with a hook to the body
and Steiner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fisher's guard now. Fisher looking to hit a scissor sweep but Steiner is one step ahead there. Steiner trying to control but Fisher is working from the bottom. Steiner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fisher swivels though and keeps the full guard. Steiner won't allow Fisher to sweep him here. Fisher working for a triangle but Steiner defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Fisher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fisher holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Steiner moves into range and clinches up with Fisher. Steiner on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

He's pushed Steiner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Samuel Fisher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Steiner. Fisher tries to clinch up but Steiner circles away and keeps his distance. Fisher closes the distance and clinches. Fisher lands an elbow inside that Steiner shrugs off. Steiner working hard to break the clinch. Steiner drags the fight down to the ground.

Fisher throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Steiner counters with a stiff right hand. Fisher connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Steiner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fisher.

That was a close second round but I would say that Samuel Fisher will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

That's going to sap some energy. Fisher tries to clinch but Steiner is having none of it. Fisher feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Steiner's calf. Fisher feints and then cracks Steiner's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Steiner down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fisher tries to clinch but Steiner is having none of it. Peter Steiner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Steiner takes a shot right to the bread basket. Fisher misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Fisher has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Steiner moves out of range of the leg kick from Fisher. Steiner bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Fisher's head. Fisher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steiner manages to avoid it. Steiner dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Peter Steiner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Steiner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Fisher.
And that's the end of the fight! Samuel Fisher showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fisher, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
