Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers has chosen American Badass by Kid Rock as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Ruiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers is looking to clinch.
Carlos Ruiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogers shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ruiz scores with a jab to the body.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ruiz has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ruiz and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Rogers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rogers lands a really nice looking cross but Ruiz seems unphased.

Ruiz throws a series of punches but Rogers moves out of range.

The fighters circling - Ruiz throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rogers shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ruiz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Ruiz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rogers.

Rogers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ruiz, who protects the arm well.
Rogers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rogers creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ruiz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Rogers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ruiz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rogers - the referee stops the clock and Ruiz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rogers. Ruiz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Good leg kick by Rogers there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Well Rogers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
