Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Langston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Lapointe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lapointe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Don't Drink The Water. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bill Lapointe was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Langston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Lapointe! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Langston looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Langston throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Langston throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Langston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lapointe moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Some wild striking there from Langston.
Langston tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Langston misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lapointe.

Langston throws a quick inside leg kick. Lapointe takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Langston misses with a low kick. Langston throws the left hand but Lapointe avoids the punch easily. Langston thows a body shot but no joy. Lapointe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Langston paws at him with a jab and circles away. A looping hook to the body misses from Lapointe. Langston does a little dance to reset his feet. Lapointe connects with a right hand. Langston shakes it off. Langston throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Langston throws a hook but Lapointe blocks it. Langston throws a hook to the side of Lapointe's head but Lapointe sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nice takedown defense from Langston. No joy for Lapointe on that attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Langston throws a half hearted mid kick. Langston scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Lapointe swings for the body but Langston moves out of range.

The fighters circling - Lapointe throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Langston swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Langston is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Lapointe's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Langston tests Lapointe's chin there with a solid looking shot. Langston throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Langston misses the target. Lapointe shoots in and bounces Langston off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Langston wants to get back to his feet but Lapointe is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Lapointe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lapointe is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Langston wants to stand and escape but Lapointe is having none of it. Langston is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lapointe dives into side control.
Langston is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Lapointe tries to advance to mount but Langston denies him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Langston misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Lapointe counters with a single leg into guard. Langston didn't expect that. Lapointe's corner is telling him to maintain position. Langston wants to stand up but Lapointe is controlling him. Lapointe wants to control from the top but Langston keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Langston dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Langston throws a combination that misses and Lapointe counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Langston's guard now. Lapointe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Langston manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lapointe has Langston in his guard. Langston wants to stand and escape but instead Lapointe has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Langston wants to stand up but Lapointe is controlling him. Lapointe wants to control from the top but Langston keeps moving. Langston wants to get back to his feet but Lapointe is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Langston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Langston keeping moving, preventing Lapointe from controlling successfully. Lapointe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lapointe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lapointe forces his way into half guard. Lapointe missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Lapointe is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Langston has managed to free his arm - good work. Langston pushes Lapointe off looking to stand but Lapointe dives back in and keeps control.
Lapointe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Langston doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lapointe. Lapointe wants to pass the guard but Langston is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Langston is looking to escape. Lapointe wants to take a breather but Langston is having none of it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Langston avoids the body shot from Lapointe.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lapointe is defended easily by Langston. A head kick by Langston misses and Lapointe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Langston! Lapointe controlling his opponent. Langston squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Langston wants to get back to his feet. Lapointe wants to control but Langston is keeping busy. Langston controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Well, with Lapointe on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Langston is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Langston defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Lapointe's arms. Langston is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lapointe working for a choke but Langston is defending well. Lapointe is persistently looking for the submission but Langston is defending it well.
Langston is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Langston is trying to get back to his feet but Lapointe has full control of the position and if anything, Langston has just worked his way into a worse spot. Lapointe is riding his opponent, not letting Langston buck him off. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Langston is in a bad position with Lapointe working for a choke. Langston manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Lapointe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Langston's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Joe Langston is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Langston throws a shot from downtown. Lapointe moves away and avoids it. Langston throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lapointe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lapointe is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Langston rather than just go for the knockout. Langston jabs at Lapointe's body. Langston will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lapointe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Langston but Langston pushes him off and we're back to square one. Lapointe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Langston throws out the jab.
