And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Notch Johnson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kobayashi misses with a wild combination.
Takeru Kobayashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kobayashi connects with a good right hand that stumbles Johnson. Johnson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kobayashi lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Notch Johnson has been cut.

Kobayashi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kobayashi uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Johnson has time to react.

Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kobayashi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Kobayashi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Johnson connects with a nice short shot to Kobayashi's temple.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kobayashi can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

A big left from Johnson misses.
Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kobayashi which made him look bad.
Kobayashi is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Kobayashi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
