The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Catoya tries to land a front kick but Pakyaw steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Pakyaw closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Catoya did well to prevent Pakyaw getting side control.
Catoya moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Pakyaw stands up and waves to Catoya to follow him.
A solid leg kick lands there for Catoya.

Pakyaw looks to land a combination but Catoya avoids it well.
Pakyaw throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Catoya's waist but Catoya gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pakyaw off to one side.
Catoya throws a leg kick but Pakyaw sees it coming and moves out of range.
Pakyaw shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Catoya sprawls well. Catoya wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pakyaw gets slowly back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Catoya shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pakyaw pinned against the cage. Pakyaw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Catoya is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Pakyaw has his hands clasped together but Catoya extends an breaks Pakyaw's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Catoya.
