Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phantom shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Phantom is pressing down on Shorts's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shorts is holding on for now.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Phantom in particular looking to stall.
Phantom seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shorts for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joey Phantom.
Shorts dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Phantom fails with a takedown attempt.
Phantom is breathing heavily.
Shorts lands with a nice combination. Phantom backs away looking to recover.

Shorts tries to close the distance and clinch up but Phantom swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shorts tries for a takedown but Phantom manages to get underhooks.
Shorts lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Shorts trying to control the position but instead, Phantom has worked for underhooks and has pushed Shorts into the cage.
Shorts lands a right hand that snaps the head of Phantom backwards.
Shorts is looking to control Phantom's arms but Phantom gets an underhook and turns him. Now Shorts has his back to the cage.
Shorts lands a hook that snaps the head of Phantom backwards.
Shorts is stalling here.
Shorts stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Shorts gets through Phantom's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Shorts wants a takedown.
Shorts lands a shoulder strike.
Shorts drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Phantom gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Joey Phantom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drape Shorts.
Phantom jumps guard but Shorts stands there with Phantom around his waist. Phantom gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Shorts lands with a short shot to the head.
Shorts throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Phantom blocks it with crossed arms.
Shorts lands an uppercut.
Shorts using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Phantom has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Shorts gets underhooks to prevent Phantom's takedown attempt.
With the fighters up against the cage, Shorts throws an elbow but misses.
Shorts taking a breather.
Shorts softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Shorts lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Shorts makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Shorts scores with a shot to the side of Phantom's head.
Shorts lands a hook to the side of the head.
Shorts tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Phantom smiles and moves away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shorts, as that shot connected.
Shorts throws a series of strikes that have Phantom backpedaling.
Shorts swats away the attempt to clinch by Phantom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shorts moves into the clinch.
Phantom is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shorts gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Shorts is trying to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drape Shorts dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shorts, as that shot connected.
Phantom takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Shorts lands a left and a right that send Phantom crashing to the mat, dazed. Shorts thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Phantom is rocked!
Shorts steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Phantom is out on his feet! Shorts sets himself and nearly takes Phantom's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
