Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Slick Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luigi Beretta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Slick Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luigi Beretta!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Beretta or perhaps it was just good defense by Kennedy which made him look bad.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kennedy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kennedy scores with a hook.
A punch combination from Beretta misses.
Beretta shoots in for a takedown but Kennedy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Beretta scores with a hook to the body. Kennedy takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Beretta thuds his right hand into Kennedy's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kennedy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Beretta stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kennedy.

enabling Kennedy to counter with a crisp jab.
Slick Kennedy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luigi Beretta.

Beretta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Beretta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Beretta sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Beretta swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kennedy is now in Beretta's guard. A big mistake from Beretta there, giving up the dominant position!

Kennedy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kennedy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Beretta manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Beretta thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Kennedy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kennedy pushes Beretta off looking to stand but Beretta dives back in and keeps control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kennedy throws and elbow that misses. Beretta uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kennedy's guard. Nice move by Beretta!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Kennedy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kennedy takes a swing at Beretta's ribcage but misses.

Kennedy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kennedy is looking to take a break and control but Beretta is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Beretta wants to sweep here but Kennedy controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Beretta is looking to stand up but Kennedy isn't so interested in that idea.
Kennedy wants to control from the top but Beretta keeps moving.
Kennedy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Beretta is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kennedy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Kennedy throws a strike but Beretta rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Beretta trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kennedy has taken the fight to the clinch.
Beretta working hard to break the clinch.
Beretta looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Beretta is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Kennedy lands with a light punch inside.
Beretta wants a takedown.
Slick Kennedy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luigi Beretta.
A nice left hand lands by Kennedy.
Beretta wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kennedy is working for takedown but Beretta is calmly controlling the position for now.

Beretta closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Kennedy lands a nice hook to Beretta's body. Beretta takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Beretta fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kennedy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kennedy connects with a single shot there.
Beretta on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Kennedy scores with a jab. Beretta acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Beretta shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kennedy wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kennedy holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Beretta tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Beretta throwing strikes here but Kennedy is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kennedy misses with an uppercut. Beretta saw that one coming.
Beretta throws a combination that misses

and Kennedy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Beretta!
Kennedy landing strikes, looking to finish!

Kennedy jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Beretta is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Beretta and Kennedy has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Beretta avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Kennedy.
Kennedy sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Beretta is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Beretta is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kennedy connects with a decent elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Beretta struggling a bit here.
Beretta is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kennedy connects with a decent elbow.
Beretta tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kennedy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Beretta explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Luigi Beretta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Beretta's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Beretta duly obliges.
Beretta walks into a jab.
Kennedy swinging wildly here.
Beretta doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kennedy counters with a nice uppercut.

And that's the end of the fight!
Slick Kennedy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kennedy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
