Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Montey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniels comes to the cage accompanied by Marinda Lambert - Jack Daniels. Jack Daniels has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Daniels !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Montey!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Daniels tries to clinch up.
Daniels tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Montey paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Daniels stops a takedown attempt from Montey.

Daniels turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Daniels manages to end up in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montey can do anything to dispel that myth.
Montey parries the strikes from Daniels easily there. Daniels is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Montey to escape.
Montey is looking to regain half guard here but Daniels keeps moving and retains side control.

Daniels tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Montey is pushing Daniels 's head away, looking to escape. Daniels manages to hold on to the position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Daniels tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Daniels has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Daniels has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Montey is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Montey seems a little lost for a moment, as Daniels dominates the positioning.

Montey tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Daniels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Daniels trying to control the position but Montey is working away.

Daniels is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Montey has escaped the position, nice work there.

Montey avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Daniels .
Montey is looking for a sweep.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Daniels staying calm.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Montey moves out of range as Daniels throws a body kick.
Daniels chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Montey can pounce on him.
Montey closes the distance looking to clinch

so Daniels counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniels forces his way into half guard.
Daniels wants to pass the guard but Montey is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Daniels dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Montey gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Daniels counters with a shoot takedown. Montey fights it but they end up in guard.
Daniels wants to control from the top but Montey keeps moving.
Daniels slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Daniels throws and elbow that misses. Montey uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Daniels 's guard. Nice move by Montey!

Daniels scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Montey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Daniels connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Montey is breathing heavily.
Daniels misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Daniels gets a takedown into half guard.
Montey is looking for a sweep. Daniels is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jack Daniels overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Daniels has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Daniels is trying to control. Montey wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Daniels .
Daniels shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Montey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Montey.
Montey gets underhooks to prevent Daniels 's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Daniels . That's going to take a lot out of him.

Daniels is struggling to control the position.
Daniels throws an elbow that misses.

Daniels has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Montey uses from the top position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daniels is on top in guard.

Daniels drops back, looking for a kneebar! Montey looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Montey looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Montey!

Montey wants to control but Daniels is keeping him busy.
Montey working away.
Montey laying and praying for a moment but Daniels takes advantage and regains half guard.
Montey is trying to control the action in half guard but Daniels is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Montey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daniels . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Daniels is looking to control Montey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Daniels avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Daniels dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Montey tries to clinch

and Daniels counters with a nice double leg into side control. Montey won't be happy with that.
Montey is not content to let Daniels control the position.

Daniels tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Daniels thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Daniels controlling the position from side mount.
Daniels throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Montey is looking for a sweep.
Montey is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Daniels trying to control the position but Montey is working away.
Daniels is really struggling to control Montey but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Daniels is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Montey knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Daniels .

Montey shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Daniels napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Montey wants to take a breather but Daniels manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Montey.

Daniels is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Montey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Daniels swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Daniels manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Montey manages to get himself to full guard.

Daniels drops back looking for a leg! Montey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Montey manages to kick Daniels off! Daniels jumps back into Montey's guard.
Daniels throws a big right hand that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Daniels showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Daniels , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
