Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brian Ko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Samuel Jackson! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ko looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well. Ko moves into the clinch. Jackson breaks the clinch.
Ko shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily. Jackson wants to clinch. Ko shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ko was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jackson is looking to improve his position but Ko isn't that keen on the idea. Jackson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ko. Ko stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Ko fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Ko persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ko is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer. Ko tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Ko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Jackson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ko. Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ko is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Ko trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom. Ko is breathing heavily. Ko stalling. Jackson pushes Ko off looking to stand but Ko dives back in and keeps control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ko is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jackson! Ko trying to control but Jackson is having none of it. Jackson tries to lock up and control but Ko gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ko wants to control the pace but Jackson is squirming around nicely. Ko sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Ko tries to control but Jackson wriggling away.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Brian Ko just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Ko misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Ko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ko takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Ko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Jackson is trying desperately to improve position. Jackson tries to hold on but Ko postures up. Ko looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jackson wants to hold on but Ko pushes him away. Jackson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Jackson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Ko unloading with bombs! Jackson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ko wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Jackson tries to hold on but Ko postures up. Ko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape. Jackson working to try and regain half guard.

Ko has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ko avoids the attempt from Jackson to control. Ko controlling from mount. Ko looking for a guillotine from mount but Jackson is having none of it. Ko controlling the position easily from mount.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ko takes Jackson's back. A lull in the action here.
Ko is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Ko is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Jackson is tapping out! This one is all over!
