PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luther West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose de Jesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Luther West has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luther West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose de Jesus!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
West lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Jose de Jesus has been cut.
West lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This has been an exciting period of action!
West misses with a double jab.

Jesus shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches West napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jesus thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Jesus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jesus is trying to get an arm triangle but West is defending well.

Jesus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jesus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jesus is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. West knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jesus looks gassed!

Jesus is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but West is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jesus is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. West knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jesus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jesus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
West is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jesus has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jesus is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, West has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jesus looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Jesus tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Jesus goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, West rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Jesus's guard! Nice work there by West!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jesus looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
West working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
West lunges at Jesus with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jesus's hand.
West misses with the combination.
A right-left combo lands from West.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
West misses with a looping left.
A big left from West misses.

Jesus bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jesus thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Luther West will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jose de Jesus's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Jesus scores with a takedown into West's guard.
Jesus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. West is keeping the position for now.

Jesus drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and West dives on top into guard.

Jesus had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. West defends it easily.
West throwing strikes from guard but Jesus blocks nicely.

Jesus looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

West is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jesus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
West knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jesus on the ground.
West thows a big elbow that misses.

Jesus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. West gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jesus has his foot on West's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. West works his way back into a safe position though.

Jesus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and West defends well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
West working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
West lands a couple of elbows.
West throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jesus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jesus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. West gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jesus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. West doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Jesus is tightening it up a little... West has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! West reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! West taps out! nice BJJ there by Jesus!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jose de Jesus!
