PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nyrkki Sankari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beerkiller Razmax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sankari kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Odorants - This Night. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nyrkki Sankari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Beerkiller Razmax!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sankari misses the jab.
Razmax walks into a straight right hand from Sankari.
Sankari does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nyrkki Sankari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sankari forces Razmax back against the cage and clinches.

Sankari gets control of Razmax's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sankari will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Razmax controlling from the top position.
Sankari pulls Razmax in close to prevent any damage.
Sankari wants to sweep here but Razmax controlling him for the moment.
Razmax prevents Sankari from getting back to his feet.

Sankari tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Razmax wants to control from the top but Sankari keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sankari is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Razmax wants to stand but Sankari is controlling his posture from full guard.
Razmax is fighting to break Sankari's control of his arms but Sankari is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sankari looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sankari is working hard here to advance position.
Razmax tries to free his leg and advance position but Sankari is retaining full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sankari buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Sankari getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Razmax is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sankari rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Razmax moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sankari scores with a decent looking hook.
Razmax lands a high kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nyrkki Sankari dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Razmax stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sankari.


It looks like Nyrkki Sankari has been cut.
Sankari lands with a shot to the body.

Sankari has Razmax up against the cage in a clinch.
Sankari is trying to force a seperation but Razmax has the dominant position.
Sankari wants to break the clinch but can't.

Sankari pulls Razmax into guard.
Sankari looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Razmax wants to get up but he can't break Sankari's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Sankari wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Sankari's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Razmax is fighting to break Sankari's control of his arms but Sankari is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sankari looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Razmax looking to sit in guard and control but Sankari gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Razmax wriggles free and stands up.
A slapping leg kick lands for Razmax.

Razmax gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sankari tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sankari is looking to break free of the clinch but Razmax has double underhooks.

Razmax pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Razmax steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sankari.
Razmax takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Razmax bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Good shot there by Sankari.
A jab lands there for Sankari.
Razmax throws a jab but it's blocked by Sankari.
Sankari has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Razmax steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sankari.
Sankari keeps the fight on the outside.
Razmax takes one on the button.
Razmax is looking to clinch.
A head kick misses from Sankari.

Sankari clinches up with Razmax and pushes him back against the cage.
Sankari tries to break free but Razmax pushes him back against the cage.
Sankari wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Razmax breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nyrkki Sankari is winning the standup battle so far.

Sankari has managed to clinch.

Sankari breaks the clinch.
Beerkiller Razmax is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Razmax on the wrong end of a nice jab.
A head kick misses from Razmax.
Razmax moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sankari scores with a jab to the head.
Sankari tries to clinch up but Razmax circles away and keeps his distance.
Razmax finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Sankari moves into the clinch successfully.
Razmax tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Sankari pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Razmax misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sankari throws a hook but Razmax blocks it.

Sankari moves into range and clinches up with Razmax.

Sankari breaks the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
An inside leg kick lands from Razmax.
Sankari lands with a nice body punch.
Razmax is breathing heavily.
Sankari connects with a body shot.
Sankari lunges at Razmax with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Razmax's hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nyrkki Sankari dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Nyrkki Sankari's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Sankari's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A left and a right from Sankari both land. Nice combination.

Sankari drops Razmax with a beautiful combination! Razmax stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sankari is looking for the KO!


Razmax is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sankari grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Razmax takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Sankari cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Nyrkki Sankari!
