PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Corey Cloyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Blast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blast has chosen Goldfinger - Superman as his entrance music. Tim Blast will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Corey Cloyde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Blast!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blast looks to throw the jab but Cloyde is out of range.
Cloyde looks for a takedown but Blast sprawls well.
Blast connects with a right hand. Cloyde shakes it off.
Blast circles away from the clinch attempt.
Blast throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Blast with a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cloyde shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Blast keeps the fight on the outside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cloyde slips a jab from Blast.
Cloyde takes one to the side of the head.
Corey Cloyde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blast lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Tim Blast is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Blast looks to land a right hand but Cloyde moved out of range.
Cloyde shoots in for a takedown but Blast shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Corey Cloyde. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cloyde tries for a takedown but Blast sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Blast throws a lazy right hand but Cloyde sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cloyde shoots for a takedown but Blast saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cloyde is looking to clinch but Blast is avoiding it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cloyde is defended easily by Blast.
Cloyde shoots in and drives through. Blast sprawls well.
A big left from Blast misses.
Blast throws a jab when Cloyde was well out of range.
Cloyde wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cloyde tries to close the distance and clinch up but Blast swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A jab from Blast misses.
Blast cracks Cloyde with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Cloyde moves out of range of the strikes.
Cloyde takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Blast keeps the fight on the outside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cloyde is defended easily by Blast.
Cloyde fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cloyde tries to clinch but Blast moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cloyde drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A telegraphed right hand from Blast misses the target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Blast dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Cloyde gets the takedown into side control.
Cloyde trying to control the position but Blast is working away.

Cloyde tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Blast holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Blast sneaks back into half guard.
Cloyde is taking a breather. Blast says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Cloyde wants to pass to mount but Blast is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cloyde is working for a kimura but Blast is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cloyde looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Blast is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Blast is not content to let Cloyde control the position.

Cloyde maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Blast could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Cloyde has cracked it and Blast is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Cloyde!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Corey Cloyde!
