PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malcolm Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Larson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Headstrong by Trapt. On his way into the cage it seems that Ed Larson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ed Larson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malcolm Lancaster!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lancaster throws a series of punches but Larson moves out of range.
Malcolm Lancaster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Decent striking displayed by Lancaster there.
Lancaster waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Larson.
Lancaster lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Larson at a distance.
Larson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Good exchange - Lancaster coming out on top.
Larson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

It looks like Ed Larson has been cut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Larson is defended easily by Lancaster.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Larson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lancaster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Larson somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lancaster.
Lancaster is looking to take a break and control but Larson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Larson tries to bench press Lancaster off him but Lancaster keeps the position.
Lancaster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Larson keeps working.
Larson is looking to regain half guard here but Lancaster keeps moving and retains side control.

Lancaster lands some shots froms side control.
Lancaster is staying tight to Larson's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Lancaster is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Larson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lancaster is looking to take a break and control but Larson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Larson gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nice strikes from Lancaster there.

Larson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lancaster pulls his head out easily.
Lancaster has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Larson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Lancaster is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Larson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lancaster.

Still in half guard, Lancaster seems content to control.
Lancaster winds up and cracks Larson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Larson is not content to let Lancaster control the position.
Larson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Larson tries to get out of the position.
Lancaster might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Larson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Larson is in trouble now - Lancaster has advanced to mount!
Larson is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lancaster lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Lancaster lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Lancaster has hold of Larson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Larson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Lancaster trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Lancaster is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Larson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malcolm Lancaster dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ed Larson's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Larson has his takedown stuffed

and Lancaster counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Lancaster uses his free foot to push down on Larson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Larson.
Larson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lancaster in particular looking to stall.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Malcolm Lancaster.
Larson gets cracked there but stands up to it.


Ed Larson's cut is getting worse.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lancaster scores with a decent looking hook.
Lancaster misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Larson with a poor takedown

and Lancaster counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Larson's guard now.
Larson wants to sweep but no luck.
Lancaster passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Lancaster has hold of Larson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Larson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lancaster cranks the arm and Larson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Larson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Malcolm Lancaster!
