Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Ames (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Ruffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ames's entrance music is Break down the walls. A fine choice. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Ames! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Ruffy! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruffy throws a low kick, looking for Ames's leg but Ames calmly moves out of range. Ames tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruffy swivels and escapes. Ruffy has managed to clinch.
Ruffy misses with an elbow strike.
Ames wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ames wants a takedown but no success here.
A battle for position here, against the ropes. Ruffy lands an uppercut. Ruffy fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ames blocking some punches.
Ruffy lands a shoulder strike. A short right hand to the side of the head by Ruffy. Ames tries to break free but Ruffy pushes him back against the ropes. Ruffy prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Ames. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruffy doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

A battle for position here, against the ropes. Ames taking a breather. Ames is trying to drag Ruffy to the mat but Ruffy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Ruffy misses with a hook from the clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Ruffy pushes Ames back against the ropes and unloads with a body punch. Ames blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. A short uppercut from Ruffy. A quick uppercut on the inside from Ruffy. Ames looking for a takedown. A short left from Ruffy. Ames has had enough of the clinch but Ruffy keeps him there for the moment. Ruffy swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ames wants to break free but Ruffy has control.
Ruffy keeps control of Ames as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Ruffy throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ames blocks it with crossed arms. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ames. Ames wants to get back to striking at distance but Ruffy won't allow it.
Ames is looking to break free of the clinch but Ruffy has double underhooks. Ames tries to break the clinch but Ruffy is controlling the position. Ames taking a breather. Ruffy has a couple of punches blocked by Ames.
Ruffy lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Ames looking for a takedown. Ruffy has Ames pressed against the ropes, preventing Ames from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Ruffy keeps control of Ames as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Ames is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes. Ames tries to break free but Ruffy pushes him back against the ropes. Ruffy with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Ruffy is pressed up against the ropes. Ames has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ruffy down to the mat. Ruffy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ruffy.
Ames checks a low kick from Ruffy. Ruffy throws a leg kick which misses Ames's front leg but catches the back leg as Ames tries to avoid it. Ruffy rushes Ames and presses him up against the ropes. A frustrated look appears on Ames's face as he tries to break the clinch. Ruffy lands a hook that snaps the head of Ames backwards.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruffy scores with an uppercut up the middle. Ames looking to slow down the pace here. Ruffy with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Ruffy prevents Ames from breaking the clinch. Ruffy keeps control of Ames as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Ames drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ames goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ruffy prevents it.

Ames has had enough of the clinch but Ruffy keeps him there for the moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A short right from Ruffy. Ames goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ruffy prevents it.

Charles Ruffy dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ruffy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A leg kick checked by Ames. Ruffy chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Ames throws the left hand but Ruffy avoids the punch easily. Ames shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Ruffy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ames looks to land a right hand but Ruffy moved out of range. Ames walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Ruffy feints and then cracks Ames's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ames down. Ruffy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Ruffy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ames is proving hard to escape from. Ames throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ruffy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ames's guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ames is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ruffy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ames is proving hard to escape from. Ruffy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ames. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ruffy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ames has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ruffy has managed to get both his arms back between Ames's legs - danger averted. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruffy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ames is proving hard to escape from. Ames is looking for a triangle but Ruffy pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruffy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Ruffy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Ruffy connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Ruffy throws a head kick but Ames moves out of range.
Ruffy works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Ames misses with a takedown and Ruffy finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Ruffy with a nice cross. The fight stays on the outside here - Ruffy looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ames blocks a leg kick. Ruffy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ames. Ames tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruffy was well out of range. Poor timing from Ames. Ames pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ruffy is out of range and Ames settles back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ames doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ruffy counters with a thumping low kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Ames. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruffy is looking to slow Ames down with leg kicks. Ames misses with an uppercut. Ames has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ruffy finds it's way round the side to connect with Ames's head. Good leg kick by Ruffy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Ruffy slips under a jab from Ames. An inside leg kick lands from Ruffy. Charles Ruffy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ruffy connects with a body shot. Ames takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Ruffy feints and then cracks Ames's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ames down. Ruffy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. A looping hook to the body misses from Ames. Ruffy does a little dance to reset his feet. Ames blocks a low kick nicely. Ruffy throws a nice outside leg kick. Ruffy paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Ames stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ruffy. Ames throws a hook but Ruffy avoids it easily. Ames is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Ruffy chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruffy finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Ames takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Ruffy lands a jab to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ames takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Ruffy turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Ames chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ruffy can pounce on him.
Ames throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ames misses with a leg kick and Ruffy counters with a solid body kick. Ames tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Ruffy lands with a kick to the temple. Ames shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Ames throws a lazy right hand but Ruffy sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Charles Ruffy seems to be getting the better of the standup. Ruffy looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ruffy throws a nice inside leg kick. Nathan Ames seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ames drops his hands momentarily and Ruffy takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ruffy lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ruffy scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Ruffy jabs at Ames's body. Ruffy connects with a solid leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Ruffy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
A jab from Ruffy finds it's way through Ames's defenses. Ruffy cracks the inside of Ames's front leg. Ames checks a leg kick. Ruffy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ames. Ruffy throws a nice outside leg kick. Ames darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ruffy is trying to stand up here but Ames is controlling him well. Ruffy is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Ames is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Ruffy tries to buck Ames off but he can't manage it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ames lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Ruffy is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Ruffy blocking the ground and pound. Ames goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ruffy is on top in guard.
Ames is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ruffy stands and steps away. Ames gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ames stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ruffy. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ruffy, right into the meat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ames has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ames there as he acknowledges the shot. Ruffy bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ames's head. Ruffy takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ames takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Ruffy lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ames's sensitive parts. Ames blocks a leg kick. Ruffy cracks a nice hook into Ames's ribs. Ruffy lands with a good body shot. Ruffy throws a low kick, looking for Ames's leg but Ames calmly moves out of range. Ames gets the takedown into side control. Ruffy is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Ames swings around for an armbar but Ruffy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ames's guard. Ruffy wanted to stand there but Ames had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ames looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ames has a closed guard, preventing Ruffy from standing up. Ruffy wants to stand and escape but instead Ames has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Ruffy wants to stand and escape but Ames is having none of it. Ames passes Ruffy's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ruffy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruffy is trying to stand up here but Ames is controlling him well. Charles Ruffy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ames slips a nice elbow through Ruffy's hands, connecting with Ruffy's forehead. Ruffy is looking to escape. Ames looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ames is working for a kimura but Ruffy is defending it quite comfortably.
Nathan Ames has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ames is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nathan Ames. I think Ruffy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
