Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gino Calza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Alencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alencer has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! The key to victory for Gino Calza has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gino Calza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Alencer! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calza thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Alencer if he has to take too many more of those.
Alencer looks gassed! Calza tries to clinch there but Alencer circles away.
Calza fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Calza has a takedown stuffed. Calza moves in looking to clinch but Alencer pushes him off. Alencer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Calza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alencer as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gino Calza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice takedown defense from Alencer. No joy for Calza on that attempt. Calza shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alencer pinned against the cage. Alencer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Alencer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Calza circles away. Calza shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Alencer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alencer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Calza doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alencer. Alencer throwing shots but Calza is blocking nicely. Alencer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Calza knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Calza wants to control but Alencer is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alencer not landing any meaningful shots this time. Alencer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Calza's head. Alencer missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Calza is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Alencer pulls his head out easily.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Alencer has closed the distance and engaged Calza in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Alencer wants the takedown. Calza is fighting it off but Alencer persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Calza's guard against the cage. Alencer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Calza is keeping the position for now. Calza not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alencer advances position into side control! Calza wants to control but Alencer postures up. Calza manages to get back to half guard. Alencer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Calza is trying to stand back up but Alencer is controlling him
Alencer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Alencer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calza avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Alencer. Calza is trying to stand.

Calza is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alencer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alencer's back! Calza lands strikes to the head. Alencer is trying to get back to his feet but Calza has full control of the position and if anything, Alencer has just worked his way into a worse spot. Calza scores with punches and elbows. Alencer grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. I really don't envy Alencer right now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Calza is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Alencer has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Calza trying to control momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alencer tries to roll but Calza sticks to his back.
Alencer just trying to survive but Calza is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Calza controlling well, preventing Alencer from escaping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Alencer will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alencer throws a hook to the side of Calza's head but Calza sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Alencer is breathing heavily. Calza lands with a nice body kick. Calza fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Calza looks for a takedown but Alencer sprawls well.

Alencer pulls guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alencer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Alencer landing strikes from the mount and Calza is in trouble! Calza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Alencer landing punches. Calza tries to hold on but Alencer postures up.

Calza is working hard here to advance position. Calza holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Alencer tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Can Calza avoid being mounted? Alencer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Alencer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Calza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Alencer not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Alencer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Alencer missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Alencer moves nicely into side control. Alencer connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Calza some visible discomfort.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alencer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Calza knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Alencer in the domination position with Calza hanging on. Calza tries to escape but Alencer is in control. Calza is trying to control Alencer's posture but Alencer avoids it. Alencer looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Alencer fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Jose Alencer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Gino Calza's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

He can't get it on this occasion though. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Calza tries to pull guard but Alencer holds him up against the cage and eventually Calza drops back down to his feet.

Calza with good strikes from the mount here! Alencer is trying desperately to improve position. Jose Alencer has got the better of the ground game so far. Calza looking to control but Alencer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Calza prevents Alencer from getting the reversal. Calza content just to control the position here. Calza can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alencer is looking to escape. The referee warns Alencer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Alencer is rocked! Calza sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Alencer is still in real trouble! Can Calza finish him? Calza dominating with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calza takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Calza working away from the top, dropping strikes. Alencer has left one of his arms exposed and Calza doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Alencer screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
