Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bascum Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bascum Avery was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Peters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bascum Avery! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peters throws a right and a left that both miss. Bascum Avery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Peters fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Avery misses with a takedown and Peters counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Avery looking to control.
Peters wants to pass the guard but Avery is keeping the position. Peters drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Avery dives on top into guard. Avery looking to sit in guard and control but Peters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Peters passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peters looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. An elbow from Peters crashes against the mat.
Avery is looking to reverse the position. Peters is trying to get an arm triangle but Avery is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peters goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Avery rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Peters's guard! Nice work there by Avery! Avery drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Peters manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Avery has Peters in his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peters drops back looking for a leg! Avery is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Avery manages to kick Peters off! Peters jumps back into Avery's guard. Peters tries to free his leg and advance position but Avery is retaining full guard. Peters loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Peters wants to control from the top but Avery keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peters slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Peters tries for a kimura but Avery is defending well. Peters working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peters is breathing heavily. Peters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Peters prevents Avery from escaping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peters is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Avery is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Avery sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Peters passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Avery! Avery is squirming around, avoiding Peters's attempts to control the action. Peters fails to advance to Avery's back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Peters dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Peters decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Peters moves nicely into side control. Peters trying to control the position but Avery is working away. Peters decides to stand back up. Peters steps back and let's Avery get back to his feet. Peters shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Avery manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Peters sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Avery's guard. Peters seems to be working for a kimura but Avery defends the submission attempt. Peters wants to pass the guard but Avery is defending well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Avery is pressing down on Peters's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. John Peters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Peters passes easily into side control. Nice work. Peters tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Peters is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Avery knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Avery can't do much from the bottom here. Peters tries for a kimura but Avery is defending well. Peters working the ground and pound. Avery parries the strikes from Peters easily there. Peters is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Avery to escape.
Peters decides to stand back up. Avery throws a shot from downtown. Peters moves away and avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Peters. Peters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Peters is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Avery is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Peters working away. Peters looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peters is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Avery looks calm but he's in trouble here. Peters gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Avery is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Peters lets go of the hold and Avery can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Peters!
