Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fabiano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Edgar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to take your shirt off. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Fabiano!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fabiano misses with a two punch combination.

Edgar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fabiano wants to get back to striking at distance but Edgar won't allow it.
Fabiano is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Fabiano drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Edgar has Fabiano pressed against the cage, preventing Fabiano from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Edgar prevents Fabiano from breaking the clinch.

Fabiano tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Edgar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Edgar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Edgar.
Fabiano misses with a hook. Edgar ducked under it nicely.
Fabiano throws a quick inside leg kick.
Fabiano throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Edgar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fabiano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

so Edgar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Edgar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Edgar seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fabiano for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edgar in particular looking to stall.

Edgar shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Edgar showed some decent athleticism there.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Edgar lands a nice short elbow.

Fabiano's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fabiano is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Edgar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Edgar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

BOOM! Edgar connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Edgar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Luis Fabiano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Frank Edgar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Edgar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
