Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cornelius Jacobs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronald Murvis! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murvis throws out a loose jab but Jacobs uses good head movement to avoid it. Jacobs is looking to slow Murvis down with leg kicks. Jacobs throws a push kick but Murvis slaps the foot to one side. Jacobs throws a series of punches but Murvis moves out of range. Jacobs shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Murvis defends it nicely. Jacobs takes a shot right to the bread basket. Jacobs ducks under a wild hook from Murvis. A combination from Murvis does no damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murvis fails to land with a series of punches.
Jacobs throws a big shot that misses. Jacobs takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A clash of legs there as Murvis blocks the low kick. Jacobs showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Murvis.
Murvis takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Ronald Murvis has been cut. Murvis throws a shot to the body.
Murvis swinging wildly here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Murvis misses with a double jab
and Jacobs counters with a shoot takedown. Murvis fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jacobs stands and throws Murvis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Murvis tries to escape but Jacobs is in control. Jacobs tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jacobs looks up at the clock and then as Murvis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jacobs smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Jacobs working the ground and pound. Murvis is not content to let Jacobs control the position. Jacobs tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jacobs has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murvis defending against the ground and pound. Murvis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jacobs is controlling him well. Murvis is trying to get back to half guard. Jacobs lands a decent elbow from side control. Jacobs thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Murvis is trying to buck Jacobs off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jacobs throws an elbow but Murvis slips to the side and avoids it well. Jacobs wants to control but Murvis is keeping him busy. Murvis wants to control but Jacobs postures up. Murvis wants to get back to his feet. Jacobs tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Murvis is trying to buck Jacobs off. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Murvis bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cornelius Jacobs dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ronald Murvis's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Murvis slips under a jab. Murvis drops Jacobs with a beautiful combination! Jacobs stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Murvis is looking for the KO!
Jacobs is rocked!
It looks like Cornelius Jacobs has been cut. Cornelius Jacobs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jacobs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Oh Jacobs is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Murvis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Jacobs seems to have got his legs back now. A big right followed by a crushing left from Murvis knocks Jacobs out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ronald Murvis!
