PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcd Nightmare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mulligan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mulligan has chosen Out of my way - Seether as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcd Nightmare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Mulligan!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nightmare blocks a head kick by Mulligan.

Nightmare drives through and clinches with Mulligan against the cage.
Mulligan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Mulligan gets underhooks to prevent Nightmare's takedown attempt.
Mulligan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mulligan is trying to break the clinch but Nightmare has him pressed against the cage.
Nightmare tries to pull guard but Mulligan won't allow it.
Nightmare stalling against the cage.

Mulligan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nightmare gets a takedown into half guard.
Mulligan trying to control here.
Mulligan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nightmare's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nightmare's back!
Mulligan tries to get the hooks in deep but Nightmare pushed the leg off.
Nightmare is trying to get back to his feet but Mulligan has full control of the position and if anything, Nightmare has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Mulligan wants to control but Nightmare is keeping busy.
Nightmare can't escape the position.
Nightmare is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Mulligan is landing with strikes from the back.
Nightmare controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Nightmare staying busy and making it hard for Mulligan to control.
Mulligan avoiding Nightmare 's attempts to control his hands.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nightmare rolls, trying to escape but Mulligan keeps control of the position.

Nightmare is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Mulligan gets his way!
Nightmare breaks Mulligan's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Mulligan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mulligan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mulligan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nightmare would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Nightmare is breathing heavily.
Nightmare loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mulligan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Nightmare wants to control from the top but Mulligan keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Mulligan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Marcd Nightmare seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mulligan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mulligan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Nightmare is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Nightmare is not content to let Mulligan control the position.
Mulligan creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Mulligan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nightmare keeps working.

Mulligan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nightmare has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nightmare manages to get back to half guard.
Nightmare is trying to get back to full guard.
Nightmare is working hard here to advance position.
Mulligan is tying to control. Nightmare wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mulligan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nightmare is looking to clinch.

Nightmare darts in and clinches Mulligan up against the cage.
Nightmare changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mulligan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mulligan throws a right hand that Nightmare ducks under and follows up with a left that Nightmare also avoids with ease.
Nightmare with a poor takedown
and Mulligan counters with a head kick. That will keep Nightmare thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Mulligan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nightmare is looking to stand up but Mulligan isn't so interested in that idea.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mulligan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mulligan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Mulligan with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Nightmare really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mulligan is pressing down on Nightmare's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nightmare is holding on for now.
Mulligan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nightmare does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nightmare wants to get back to full guard but Mulligan has passed into side control.
Nightmare is working to get back to half guard.
Nightmare is trying to stand up.
Nightmare gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mulligan trying to control from half guard but Nightmare is working away.

Nightmare pushes Mulligan off and gets back to his feet.
Nightmare throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nightmare tries to clinch but Mulligan moves away

and Mulligan counters with a takedown into side control.
Mulligan tries to move to full mount but Nightmare actually manages to regain half guard.
Mulligan trying to control from Nightmare's half guard. Nightmare has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Nightmare looking to control.
Mulligan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nightmare is keeping the position for now.

Nightmare is wriggling around but Mulligan manages to pass to half guard.

Mulligan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Nightmare misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Mulligan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Nightmare has one foot on Mulligan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mulligan tries to clinch but Nightmare moves away

and Nightmare counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nightmare.
Mulligan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nightmare is looking to control Mulligan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nightmare avoid being mounted?
Nightmare is trying to control but Mulligan manages to pass to mount!

Mulligan working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Nightmare reaches up to try and control the position but Mulligan seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Nightmare rolls and tries to escape and now Mulligan has his back!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mulligan tries to keep control of the position but Nightmare is staying busy.
Mulligan is trying to stick to Nightmare's back but Nightmare is turning into Mulligan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mulligan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Nightmare.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mulligan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Nightmare scores with the left hand. Mulligan knows he should have avoided that one.
Nightmare is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Nightmare thuds a left hand into Mulligan's body.
Nightmare tests Mulligan's chin there with a solid looking shot.


Mulligan is rocked!
Nightmare drops Mulligan with a big left hand! Mulligan is injured, injured bad! Nightmare jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
