Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sinatra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jrock Mandela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Sinatra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jrock Mandela!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandela uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sinatra.
A jab from Mandela misses.
Mandela throws out a loose jab but Sinatra uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mandela swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Sinatra is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mandela's half guard.
Sinatra is trying to control the action in half guard but Mandela is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sinatra is working for a submission of some sort.
Sinatra thows a huge punch but Mandela dodges it nicely.
Sinatra wants to pass to mount but Mandela is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sinatra working the head and body with strikes.
Mandela is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sinatra's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sinatra's back!
Mandela is trying to stick to Sinatra's back but Sinatra is turning into Mandela. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mandela's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Sinatra.

Sinatra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mandela swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mandela keeping moving, preventing Sinatra from controlling successfully.
Mandela is trying to keep Sinatra in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sinatra is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mandela's half guard.

Sinatra is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Sinatra is looking for a kimura but Mandela is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sinatra to get the leverage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sinatra avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sinatra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sinatra passes Mandela's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mandela trying to get back to full guard but Sinatra takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Mandela is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sinatra lands a nice shot to the head.
Sinatra tries to control but Mandela wriggling away.
Sinatra avoids the attempt from Mandela to control.

Sinatra has control of Mandela's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mandela regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Sinatra dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mandela uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
A decent looking cross lands there for Sinatra.
Mandela shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sinatra counters with a shoot takedown. Mandela fights it but they end up in guard.

Sinatra drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mandela manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sinatra has Mandela in his guard.

Sinatra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sinatra looking for a sweep. Not yet Sinatra, not yet.
Sinatra is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mandela missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mandela wants to control from the top but Sinatra keeps moving.
Mandela won't allow Sinatra to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sinatra is working hard here to advance position.
Sinatra is pulling down on Mandela's head. It's preventing any offense from Mandela, at least for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mandela throws a looping overhand right but Sinatra ducks down to avoid it.
Sinatra shoots and misses

and Mandela counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sinatra's guard now.
Sinatra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mandela is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sinatra is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sinatra has escaped and now he's on top!
Sinatra stands and throws Mandela's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mandela can't do much from the bottom here.
Mandela is looking to reverse the position.

Sinatra is trying to get an arm triangle but Mandela is defending well.
Mandela takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mandela on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Mandela tries to improve position but can't.

Sinatra working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sinatra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mandela keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Sinatra will probably get the nod.
That's time! Sinatra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Sinatra displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mandela throws out the jab.
Jrock Mandela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sinatra closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mandela to the mat! Mandela manages to get full guard.

Mandela throws his legs up looking for a submission but Sinatra uses it to pass to side control.
Sinatra trying to control the position but Mandela is working away.

Sinatra is trying to get an arm triangle but Mandela is defending well.

Sinatra tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sinatra has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mandela is looking to reverse the position.
Mandela is not content to let Sinatra control the position.
Mandela tries to bench press Sinatra off him but Sinatra keeps the position.
Sinatra advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sinatra is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mandela can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Sinatra lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sinatra looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mandela is desperately trying to improve his position but Sinatra has a good base and remains in mount.
The referee warns Mandela that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mandela wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
A lull in the action here.

Frank Sinatra overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
You can see the frustration on Mandela's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Mandela trying to control the position but Sinatra manages to sink in the hooks.
Sinatra wants to control but Mandela is keeping busy.
Jrock Mandela has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mandela trying to control but not successfully.
Mandela is covering up but some of the strikes from Sinatra are getting through and doing damage.

Sinatra has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mandela has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Mandela grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Sinatra showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sinatra, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
