Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Anyukov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lukasz Byku! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anyukov misses with a few strikes there.
Anyukov misses with a wild body shot. Anyukov thows a left - swing and a miss! Anyukov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Byku misses with a head kick.
Byku swats away the attempt to clinch by Anyukov. No luck for Anyukov with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anyukov avoids the head kick by Byku.
That's one minute gone in the round. Byku slaps away a takedown attempt from Anyukov, before circling back to the center of the mat. Anyukov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Byku as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boris Anyukov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Anyukov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Byku pinned against the cage. Byku gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Byku leaves Anyukov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Anyukov is looking to clinch but Byku is avoiding it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Byku misses with a head kick.

Anyukov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Byku circles away. Anyukov tries to clinch there but Byku circles away.

Anyukov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Byku defends it nicely. Byku tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anyukov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Byku moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Byku throws a sloppy head kick and Anyukov moves out of range easily. Anyukov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Byku. Anyukov tries to close the distance and clinch but Byku swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Anyukov fails in his attempt to clinch. Byku goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Anyukov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Anyukov avoids the head kick by Byku.
Lukasz Byku is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Anyukov shoots for a takedown but Byku saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Anyukov misses with the combination.
Anyukov dives in and grabs Byku's left leg, looking for a takedown. Byku pushes down on Anyukov's head and hops out. Byku keeps the fight on the outside. Anyukov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Byku manages to avoid it. Anyukov wants to clinch up but Byku keeps it at a distance. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Byku circles away from the clinch attempt.
Anyukov is looking to clinch. Anyukov tries to close the distance and clinch but Byku swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lukasz Byku dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Anyukov swings away with a leg kick that misses. Anyukov looks to throw the jab but Byku is out of range. Anyukov scores a takedown into full mount! Anyukov fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Byku is in a horrible position here. Anyukov smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
BOOM! Anyukov connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Anyukov lands a heavy elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anyukov landing strikes from the mount and Byku is in trouble! Anyukov controlling the position easily from mount. You get the feeling that Byku really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Anyukov lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Byku wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anyukov scoring with strikes but Byku is staying in there. Anyukov with a couple of short strikes. Byku tries to buck Anyukov off but he can't manage it. Anyukov with good strikes from the mount here! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Byku wants to try and get back to his feet. Byku is breathing heavily. Anyukov lands a big elbow. Anyukov wants to finish this one by submission but Byku is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Anyukov. Byku wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Byku is squirming around, avoiding Anyukov's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anyukov raining down shots from the mount! Anyukov cracks Byku with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Byku tries to buck Anyukov off but he can't manage it. Anyukov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Byku takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Anyukov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Byku manages to avoid the submission attempt. Byku prevents Anyukov from improving position. Byku is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Anyukov asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anyukov works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Anyukov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Byku is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Anyukov has just dragged him back down to the mat. Anyukov controlling the position. Anyukov scores with a couple of short elbows. Byku parries the strikes from Anyukov easily there. Anyukov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Byku to escape.
Anyukov is working to tighten is grip on Byku's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Byku has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Anyukov is really squeezing tight and eventually Byku passes out! Anyukov breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
