Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Art Vandelay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jun Ito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jun Ito will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Art Vandelay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Ito!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vandelay darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ito is looking to escape.
Vandelay throws a strike but Ito avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Vandelay throwing strikes but missing.
Ito not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Vandelay is looking to work some ground and pound but Ito has wrist control.
Ito is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Vandelay pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ito looks to land a combination but Vandelay avoids it well.

and Ito decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vandelay's guard.
Ito wants to stand but Vandelay has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ito is looking to clinch but Vandelay is avoiding it.
Vandelay doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ito counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ito is keen to just control but Vandelay is a slippery customer.
Ito is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ito postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vandelay to stand up.
Vandelay takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Ito rushes Vandelay and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ito wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ito has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Vandelay keeps control of Ito as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Ito is trying to break the clinch but Vandelay has him pressed against the cage.

Vandelay pulls guard.
Vandelay keeping moving, preventing Ito from controlling successfully.
Ito working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Vandelay controlling the position.
Ito wants to control from the top but Vandelay keeps moving.
Ito throwing strikes from guard but Vandelay blocks nicely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Ito makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ito shoots in and bounces Vandelay off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Vandelay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ito sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vandelay's guard.
Ito tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Vandelay.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ito tries to clinch up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jun Ito showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Ito looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Vandelay throws a solid leg kick but Ito takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Vandelay.

and Ito counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ito tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vandelay swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ito counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vandelay!

Vandelay holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ito tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Ito is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Vandelay is surviving well by controlling Ito's body position as best he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Vandelay is looking to get to half guard.
Vandelay avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ito.
Ito landing strikes from the mount and Vandelay is in trouble!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Poor strikes thrown by Ito there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Ito sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Vandelay tries to reverse the position but Ito maintains control.
Ito can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vandelay is looking to escape.

Ito tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Jun Ito comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ito has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
