Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Blixt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blixt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Stretch Arm Strong - Second Chances. Jay Blixt has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Blixt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Edgar! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A right-left combo lands from Edgar.
It looks like Jay Blixt has been cut. Edgar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Blixt tries to close the distance and clinch up but Edgar swats him away and circles back towards the center. Blixt avoids a punch combination nicely.
Blixt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Edgar tries to score with a low kick but Blixt moves his leg out of the way. Jay Blixt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Edgar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Edgar avoiding damage as Blixt throws knees to the body.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Blixt is breathing heavily. Edgar has had enough of the clinch but Blixt keeps him there for the moment. Blixt keeps control of Edgar as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Blixt is stalling here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Edgar wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Knees in the clinch landing for Blixt.
Edgar is trying to force a seperation but Blixt has the dominant position. Blixt is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Edgar is defending well for now. Edgar blocks an elbow strike. Edgar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Blixt avoids a punch combination nicely.

Edgar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Edgar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Blixt wants to hold on but Edgar pushes him away. Edgar wants to control the pace but Blixt is squirming around nicely. Edgar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Edgar controlling from the full mount. Blixt taking shots to the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Blixt is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Edgar dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jay Blixt's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Edgar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Edgar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Edgar lands in his opponent's guard. Edgar trying to control the position from guard on top but Blixt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Edgar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blixt is keeping the position for now.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Edgar works his way back into a safe position though. Blixt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Edgar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blixt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Edgar is working away from the top position though. Edgar is keen to just control but Blixt is a slippery customer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Edgar not doing much here.
Ground and pound from Edgar. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Edgar connects with a nice short shot to Blixt's temple.

Edgar slips a nice elbow through Blixt's hands, connecting with Blixt's forehead. Edgar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Blixt defending well though. Edgar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Edgar is trying to control. Blixt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Frank Edgar has got the better of the ground game so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Frank Edgar. Blixt wants to clinch. Edgar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Blixt sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Edgar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Blixt pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Frank Edgar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jay Blixt's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Edgar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Edgar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Edgar scores with a couple of short elbows. Blixt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Edgar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Blixt on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blixt gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Edgar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Edgar tries to control but Blixt wriggling away. Edgar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Blixt's face.
