Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Flying Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sonny Tumblin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tumblin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Time Management - E-Bison kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Flying Phoenix has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flying Phoenix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sonny Tumblin! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tumblin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Phoenix swats him away and circles back towards the center. Tumblin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Tumblin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Sonny Tumblin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Phoenix feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Tumblin trying to control the position.
Phoenix controlling from the top position. Tumblin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Phoenix controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Tumblin tries to land a sweep but no joy. Tumblin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Phoenix really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Phoenix has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Phoenix tries to free his leg and advance position but Tumblin is retaining full guard. Phoenix is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there. Phoenix showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Flying Phoenix. Phoenix shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Phoenix accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Phoenix trying to control the position from guard on top but Tumblin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tumblin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tumblin looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Phoenix puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Phoenix controlling the action here. Phoenix has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Tumblin is pressing down on Phoenix's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tumblin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Phoenix makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Phoenix. Tumblin postures up.
Tumblin is working Phoenix over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Tumblin preventing the sweep. Tumblin looking to sit in guard and control but Phoenix gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Phoenix works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Tumblin tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Phoenix has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Phoenix controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Flying Phoenix dominated that round. That's time! Phoenix's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Tumblin lands with a cross. Tumblin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Phoenix shoots for a takedown but Tumblin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Phoenix fails with the takedown. Tumblin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Phoenix at a distance.
Phoenix circles away from the clinch attempt.
Tumblin lands with a cross. Tumblin tries to close the distance and clinch but Phoenix swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Tumblin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Phoenix doesn't seem bothered though. Phoenix on the wrong end of a nice jab. Tumblin tests Phoenix's chin there with a solid looking shot. Phoenix walks into a left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. A lull in the action here as Phoenix stalls from top position. Tumblin struggling a bit here. Tumblin pushes Phoenix away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Phoenix gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Tumblin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Phoenix wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tumblin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Phoenix has just dragged him back down to the mat. Phoenix staying calm. Tumblin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Phoenix trying to pass the guard but Tumblin defending well. Phoenix trying to control the action but Tumblin is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tumblin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Tumblin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Phoenix is working away from the top position though. Phoenix passes to side control. Tumblin is not content to let Phoenix control the position. Phoenix is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tumblin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Tumblin is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A lull in the action here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Flying Phoenix. Tumblin throws a hook but Phoenix blocks it. Tumblin swats away the attempt to clinch by Phoenix. Tumblin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Phoenix. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flying Phoenix. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tumblin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Phoenix decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Tumblin tries to roll over but Phoenix keeps him under control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Flying Phoenix will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tumblin scores with the left hand. Phoenix knows he should have avoided that one. Tumblin lands with a hook. Phoenix tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Sonny Tumblin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Phoenix scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Phoenix taking a breather here. Tumblin is looking to regain half guard here but Phoenix keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phoenix content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Phoenix trying to control the action but Tumblin is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Flying Phoenix. Tumblin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Phoenix on the side of the head. Sonny Tumblin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Phoenix fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tumblin avoids it really well and circles away. Tumblin closes the distance and lands a one-two. Tumblin stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flying Phoenix. That's going to take a lot out of him. Phoenix doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Phoenix shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Phoenix showed some decent athleticism there. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tumblin tries to get to full guard but Phoenix has control of the leg. Phoenix has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Tumblin is trying to reverse the position but instead Phoenix has taken his back - oops! Phoenix is looking for the choke from the back position but Tumblin is controlling his hands well. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
And that's the end of the fight! Flying Phoenix showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Phoenix, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
