The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hinz is looking to clinch.
Hinz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Akita circles away.

Hinz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Akita pinned against the cage. Akita gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ren Akita has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wojciech Hinz.
Akita lands a right hook to the body.

Hinz throws a leg kick which misses Akita's front leg but catches the back leg as Akita tries to avoid it.
Akita shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Akita showed some decent athleticism there.
Hinz is defending against the submission attempts here by Akita.

Akita stops Hinz from getting back to his feet.

Akita is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hinz is just riding it out for now. Akita eventually gives up the hold.

Akita uses his free foot to push down on Hinz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hinz.

Hinz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Akita lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Akita fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Akita has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hinz's face.
Hinz is bucking up trying to escape but Akita cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Hinz tries to hold on but Akita postures up.
Hinz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Akita working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hinz turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Akita off and cradles Hinz's limp body as Akita celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Ren Akita!
